hello the people who we're booking acommodation with are trying to charge 60 quid each for this transfer. between 4 i think this is a bit pricey for 2 x 50 minute trips is there a bus/rail service which might reduce this expense? You could probably rent a car for the week for less?

Help Please!

I have been driving from Geneva to Flaine for many years.
Personally always use a hire car for flexibility. The choice is on the Swiss side of the airport (Car is winterised ie snow tyres and chains in boot) or the French side (make sure you ask for chains). The French pricing is lower but you will have to buy an annual carnet if you opt to use the Swiss autoroute (around £20 I think). Alternatively from the airport go straight through Geneva on the normal roads- quite straightforward if you do your homework). Good notes are on line at http://web.onetel.net.uk/~dougmacarthur/FromGenevaAirport.html
There is rail station in Cluses but then you have to get up the hill - taxi or bus. Buses never seem to run when you want them. Bus info try http://www.gva.aero/en/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-70/
My own view is that you will be hard pressed to beat £240 without incurring significant organisational work. I would hire a car on the French side for the cheapest most flexible option - try Auto-Europe for best prices. Otherwise roll over and pay a little over the odds. Hope this helps- Bon Chance!
