Thinking of a ski trip for a week from 5th December. Does anyone have experience of skiing at Madonna di Campligio in early to mid December? I would be grateful for guidance of what conditions are usual, please. Will I have to stick to runs that have had artificial snow made on them? Are there many runs that would have snow from snow making machines if not much snow has fallen?
Thanks.

I like Madonna Its a nice place to ski and reasonable value I can recommend the Alpina ..was really good value and comfortable ..As to early December you really are in the lap of the Gods but the Italians have snowmaking down to a fine art and you really wouldnt know most of the time ..but the best bet is to look at the snow record

Hi Bronwyn, like DaveD says, I also like MDC. Also like he says it really is a bit of wait and see given the current climate changes and the heat Europe is suffering this summer.
Historically, MDC usually has snow throughout December, check the last three years on the page on this site https://uk.j2ski.com/snow_forecast/Italy/Madonna_di_Campiglio_snow_history.html
However, last year was an awful season, while the year before they had loads.
Best bet may be to wait and see what happens. The snow will usually start sometime in November, if not earlier.
Good luck.
Edit, may be easier to link straight to the image.

Thanks for your advice and also for the snow records. Are the snow guns on all of the runs or do you know which particular runs have snowmaking? It sounds like we could well be reliant on snowmaking.
Do you have any favourite restaurants in the town?
Thanks for your information.

95% of the pistes in the Madonna di Campiglio/ Pinzolo/ Folgàrida/ Marilleva ski area are equipped with snow cannons. In some years there are large falls of snow at the beginning of the season so you might get lucky, if not you will be mainly skiing on manmade snow, assuming that temperatures are low enough to make some.
There is a slight possibility that the start of the season could be delayed due to restrictions on the use of electricity, so I would wait a while before booking anything.

Thanks for the advice for December. Do the mountains on one side of the town ie Spinale receive snow before the 3Tre mountains side of the town?
Could you tell me whether it is better to stay on the Spinale lift side of the town or on the 3Tre side of Madonna, please? Are there more runs immediately available to the skier on the Spinale side without having to take Pradalago lift and ski across to the better runs with snow?
Thanks in advance for your advice about the skiing a this time of year.
