Schruns is a picturesque ski resort in the Montafon Valley, known for its varied terrain and stunning mountain backdrop. Ideal for both families and seasoned skiers, it offers a vibrant atmosphere and excellent facilities.

 Summary

Nestled in Austria's breathtaking Montafon Valley, Schruns boasts access to over 140 kilometers of ski slopes. With a mix of gentle runs and challenging pistes, it's a destination that caters to all skill levels.

The ski area of Schruns is in the Austrian Alps at an altitude of 700m 2,297ft , with 40km 25 miles of marked runs.

Schruns is part of the Silvretta Montafon ski area with access to 141km 88 miles of downhill skiing, with 44 marked pistes, served by a total of 59 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Schruns itself ( 40km 25 miles of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Silvretta Montafon ski resorts of Gargellen, Gaschurn, Silbertal, St Gallenkirch and Tschagguns.

The skiing is at relatively low altitude, so snow cover can be variable.

Ski Area Stats

Skiing

The ski area of Schruns is primarily served by the Hochjochbahn and the Zamangbahn lifts, leading up to the impressive Hochjoch mountain at an elevation of 2,450 meters. Notable pistes include the long, exhilarating runs from the summit down to the valley, providing diverse terrain and scenic views throughout the ski area.

There are a variety of pistes to suit all levels of skier ability, from Beginner to Expert.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Schruns is St. Gallen-Altenrhein, 48 minutes drive away.

Friedrichshafen, Innsbruck Airport, Memmingen, Zurich, Munich, Stuttgart, Basel, Lugano and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airports are all within three hours drive.

St. Gallen-Altenrhein is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

To reach Schruns, travelers can fly into Zürich Airport (ZRH) and take a scenic train ride or drive approximately 2 hours to the resort. Alternatively, Innsbruck Airport (INN) is about a 2-hour drive and offers a more direct route to Montafon.

The 11 ski lifts are able to uplift 14,400 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow-making is available, on 14km 9 miles of ski runs, with 25 snow cannons.

When is Schruns open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Mid April.
