Vaujany

This sleepy hamlet derives much of its income from having a major (but unobtrusive) hydro-electric dam nearby. The funds have been invested in exceptionally good lift-infrastructure including what was the world's largest cable-car.

In addition to the skiing in Vaujany itself (46km29 miles of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Alpe d’Huez grand domaine Ski ski resorts of Alpe d'Huez, Auris-en-Oisans, Oz-en-Oisans and Villard Reculas.

With ski lifts as high as 3,300m10,827ft, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Vaujany is Grenoble, 82 minutes drive away.

Chambery, Lyon Bron, Lyon St-Exupéry, Annecy, Geneva, Saint-Étienne and Avignon airports are all within three hours drive.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Late April.
