More bang for your buck in Austria. Granted if you want motorway wide flat pistes perfectly groomed, France has got the upper hand,but at 30-40% more expensive it's very pricey as family destination.I almost cancelled my new year trip to Austria because of the poor snow, and looked at the 3 Valleys. Apart from VT it's suffering like all the 800-1000m resorts in Austria. I've decided to stay put and go to Kleinarl,but get the salzburgerland super ski card - http://www.salzburgerland.com/en/ski-board/super-ski-card/22-ski-regions.html - which gives you the option of heading to loads of different resorts. Ok i do like ski in ski out in VT.Les Arcs,Tignes etc,but in recent year i've enjoyed a 20 -40 minute drive in the morning and checking out different resorts. This years top of the list is a drive to Obertauern about 35 mins away with reasonable conditions(by this years standards) and a 100km of runs,and i'm sure lunch for for at around 60euros makes it and most of Austria my favourite of the two countries.

I really really do not understand all of the french bashing. Never had a problem with any of the trips (skiing or otherwise) to France. You're just as likely to find a rude person in your local Tesco as you are in a french ski resort.

Yes indeed, the French chap on the checkout in tesco is so obnoxious !

Had the misfortune to suffer a live performance by the so-called singer known as Jessie J - a week with her would make me jump out of the nearest cable car!

As for the prat behind the bar in Ischgl - just stick to serving the drinks, mate!

She confuses me. I quite fancied her, and then she declared she was gay......then bisexual......and this year has outed herself as "straight" 'cos it was only a stage.
