My eyes still work so I can see where I am going therefore if I was going to ski into the back of somebody I don't think the ability to hear would stop me, if somebody is coming from behind me it is their responsibility to manage their route around me not the other way round, also are you saying that deaf people shouldn't ski? Nice!!!
In my experience the greatest danger on the slopes are those people who attempt to ski in areas or on slopes above their ability and end up skiing erratically in front of those coming after.

If you fail to see the point of removing one of your senses and putting ultimate trust in persons skiing behind you I'm absolutely flabbergasted.

Tony_H wrote:My iPod tends to get used on lifts but I have skied with music in my ears but only when it's on an uncrowned slope.

I also totally understand Ian's dislike for this, in terms of a safely issue. But people do like to listen to music. You'll be saying its unsafe to drive with the radio on next ;-)

If I remember correctly, Ian you don't even like music on a video?

As you know we have every body trying to become proffesional video producers all I suggest is go back to basics, cameras are pretty good nowadays they do not pick up a lot of wind noise and make a nice natural vid.
it has nothing to do with saftey on the slopes which I for one take very seriously Having Mrs W nearly being hit from behind Little W nearly being hit from behind over the years, anybody that listerns to music whilst skiing has no respect for themselves, other people or the mountain, it is also a sorry state of affairs that we are still dicussing this issue, I am guesing some idiots will never change. People can poo poo this post but we all have a responsibility for saftey in the mountains
what's it like in andorra?

The drive out of the country will be fun on sunday! The snow over the last 24 hours is the worst I have ever seen.

Don't you mean "best" you've ever seen?
It must be a nightmare when they close the lifts, just because its snowing hard.
I assume it was wind that caused the problem?
Luckily enough I've never been anywhere where they've closed the lifts, just found less people came out to play when it dumped it, strangely.

Tony when it dumps in Andorra it reallu dumps, I have pictures i think it was 1990, lifts were closed for the day due to too much snow and poor vivability if you can picture a telephone box, then it doubled in size with the snow on top.

Gaz I do have my image to consider ..... but seriously these people who ski
with ipod playing are complete idiots, I wonder if they have ever considered the consequences of killing someone whilst skiing and how they will live with that for the rest of their lives .... a complete joke. rant over
