I ski, board and xcountry but only because it gives me more flexibility for snow conditions. I hate boarding on ice I spend half my life on my butt. If my feet are aching from ski boots then my boarding boots are softer and ease my aching feet. If my knees are aching from skiing then I board. If we want some peace and quiet and see some wild life then we cross country ski. We just like the freedom to get up and do whatever takes our fancy that day.

I know, but I always kid myself that to-day the heels will be fine. Years ago I used to store a spare pair of shoes in the fridge at work, to change to midday, until the Pharmacy inspector looked in the fridge......whoops. |

I am a nightmare with ski boots, boots, shoes etc. My shoes have to be nearly worn out before they are comfortable. I wear 3 pair of shoes at work, not at the same time. I start off with smart heels, then by 11.30 they get changed to lower heels, then about 3pm flatties. My feet always ache, I know I am on my feet for about 10 hours a day but its ridiculous.

Karen, why dont you have a look at Seefeld/Austria. From what you said about N and what you want from a holiday that ticks all the boxs. Theres plenty to do for the kids, 3 ski areas all within walking distance and 20mins transfer from Innsbruck.
