Looking encouraging at 2100m

There are loads of runs that are perfect for beginners in Val D, but I wouldn't take them back to base via Santons until later in the week if they're up for a challenge and the snow is good. Much better to bring them down into La Daille and jump on the bus (there's also a great little bar there for a vin chaud)
We've had beginners on our trips in Val D'Isere and they've progressed really quickly. |

Don't worry about the lack of snow at resort level, almost all the skiing is much higher up the mountain. Quite a lot of rain forecast for the town itself this week. Mid station is 2440m it will all be snow falling at that altitude. |

If they graded it as red it would be brilliant as it wouldn't be full of terrified snow ploughers with their confidence shot to pieces.

The French? They can't get the grading consistent in a single area! Their thinking in Val D is if it joins the flatish bit up top with the town it must be blue.
Blue? |

But now the first proper dump is hours away. When you can watch it coming in on the rain radar you know it's happening.

Why are you worried about the snow cannons not firing? There is a metre of snow forecast this week. |

I'd actually opt to go a week later. The week you're going for is that last of the European school holidays.
As long as you opt for a reasonably high resort snow shouldn't be an issue any time in March. Last year we went mid March and benefited from the first proper dump of snow in about 9 weeks. |
