What exactly is a catered chalet?

Karen we always go round about 21st Jan or thereabouts, not only is it a bit cheaper, its always a lot quieter and plenty of snow. I,ll give you an estimate of how much some of our hols have cost always through a TO.

All inclusive to Austria....thats flights, transfers, hotel, full board, ski bus, lift passes, ski hire, ski lessons. £1250 for the two of us.

Hotel in Austria,.......thats flights, transfers, hotel, half board with free drinks........no lift passes, ski bus, ski hire or lessons they were extra and we booked when we got there. £1300

Log Cabin in Ruka/Lapland for 2010 works out at

flights and transfers and log cabin £816, plus £252 supplements because there are just the two of us, so this would probably work out to cover the cost of the kids.

Minus £180 discount for internet and early bird booking.
Plus we paid in advance for Snowmobile safari, reindeer safari and husky safari, will probably book a few more when we get there cost £266

So total for the two of us self catering is £1154.

This of course is no lessons, lift passes or ski hire.

Hi Karen we have never done the catered chalet, its not something I would consider we like our own space too much and dont ever have ski buddies to go with us.
We took a log cabin this year which was self catering but the cabin would take 5 people so you would not pay the supplements we paid for having it to ourselves.
We have done an all inclusive holiday at Axamer Lizum, that was flights, hotel, full board (lunch was vouchers you could use in any of the mountain cafes, lift pass, ski hire and lessons. The food was not brilliant, village not much to do and 2 coach loads of french students rampaging the hotel every night.
For 4 years running we have stayed in the Alpina in Seefeld 4* the meals have been wonderful. Breakfast was buffet style, juices, coffee, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, grapefruit, cold meats and cheeses, rolls, croissants, toasts, boiled eggs and scrambled eggs and bacon. 4oclock tea and cakes. Dinner was salad buffett, soup buffet, then starter then choice of 3 main meals, then pudding with unlimited free wine, beer or soft drinks with special meals for the kids, although similar to the adults.
If any-one asked me which I preferred it would have to be the s/c log cabin.

Rose sounds like you have to be very careful! the drink driving and stuff yeah but I didn't realise that it was as strict as nail varnish and tattoos.

Yes nail polish could chip off and go in some-ones medicine. Years ago I had an engagement ring with a large saphire and it ended up in some-ones bottle of paracetamol, I got it back, luckily they saw the funny side of it.

I have spent a very frustrating afternoon drawing a blank on t'internet!!!

Have they gone bust, or do they not want to sell their stuff, or is it just a secret?

There's a few Volkl on ebay at the moment. Amazon used to stock them, but they are now unavailable and snow and rock used to, but not now. Its strange there used to be a lot about.

Would really like a celtic upper arem band. I do not like hubbys tatoo, much to big, covers the whole upper arm and all around it. Its a work of art, but its pinhead from hellraiser.

If it's not open to public view then why would you have it

I would lose my job if I had a visible tattoo, actually I would definately lose my job if I showed this one. )

 Why?

'Cos its on my rear

I had guessed it might be on one of your most private parts, but my question was more to do with losing your job if you had a tattoo anywhere.

Its the society rules as well as my employer. Pharmacists and dispensers, no piercings, no visable tats, no nail polish on hands, no bare legs, jewellery must be minimal. Any-thing that will bring the society into disrepute. If I was made bankrupt, done for drink driving, or any criminal offence I would be struck off.

Just because something isn't on show, doesn't mean it can't make you feel good to have it, or be appreciated by those who do see it. I'm sure many of us ladies go out in nice undies - not on show but still feels good to know you're wearing them....

Probably going to regret that comparison, but hey...

Exactly, it was my little act of rebellion.

I can understand that Rose but I still dislike them if Little W came home with one in later years I would be displeased

My Son pestered the life out of me to get one, when he was 16, so I gave in on the condition that he went to a reputable one, I took him there, offered to pay and when he saw what was being done and how he freaked out and decided against it. Job done
