Heading off to Hemsedal 7th April.

Praying to the snow and temperature gods every hour at the moment.......

I'm in the same boat as you snapzzz. In between trying to work, I'm researching destinations for skiing at new year.

1,400m does sound quite low to me. Probably a safer bet by mid/end of Jan? I've just had a quick look at the hindcasts on snowforecast for La Tania. Quite an interesting pattern at resort level. Three years 9/10, 10/11 and 11/12 all had day temps above freezing on run up to new year (with rain in 9/10 and 10/11) but then temps dropped quite a bit below freezing after about 2nd Jan.

If access to Couchevel is good from La Tania then this is a big plus as accommodation presumably much cheaper.

I'm still leaning towards Val d'Isere for new year although could stay in La Daille as an alternative. Have found a great catered chalet but £800 each (x 4) :shock:

Ha ha....the old shrinking trousers claim. I've noticed mine are suffering the safe complaint (including my work suit which is a bit odd to be honest)

Tuscany in August - it will be like holidaying on the surface of the sun.

Three weddings to attend in Cheltenham, Newmarket and Aylesbury - like buses, none for about a decade then three arrive at once. Not doing my 'ski fund' much good.

Maybe one or two gigs. My daughter is desperate to see NOFX in June. Might also do one day at a festival.

My old Uni pals are trying to organise a bash in Nice but I think the recession might stop that happening (good news for my ski fund)

I've learnt that this expensive hobby will probably push back my retirement date by a couple of years!

In fact, I think all j2skiers should photograph their mountain food from now on and there should be an end of season vote for best nosh.

That should use up some more bandwith for no purpose at all :D
