The only wipe out that I've seen so far was in the fridge at Castleford Xscape!
We were there last year for a couple of hours summer skiing practice. A group of 3 or 4 'lads', probably in the 14 to 15 year old range were having a great time, skiing backwards, doing little jumps over ramps etc. No problem with that...but they were certainly not accomplished skiers and didn't seem to be totally in control. Anyway, the inevitable happened. One of the yooooths, leapt off a ramp, landed out of control and careered straight through the orange netting and wiped out a family group doing some sledging towards the bottom of the slope. No one injured as far as I could see. Interestingly there was no sign of an apology from the boy, he and his pals thought the whole thing to be a joke. No input from the staff as well. It doesn't take that much speed on snow to send people flying in all directions..... |

Same here, 5' 11" and 125cm poles. the hire shop did the upside down right angle check before handing me my poles last time round. |

Sounds good in theory but I bet the practice would be a nightmare to co-ordinate and keep up to date with national curriculum requirements.
I have two daughters (12 and 14). My eldest sat her maths gcse for the 2nd time before Christmas and she's still in year 10 and won't be 15 until June!. I would think that dealing with children from years 10 and 11 would be horribly complex. They seem to be constantly doing controlled assessments, exams, tests and homework. It would be easier dealing with younger children (primary and maybe year 7). However, I imagine many parents would be fairly relaxed about taking their children of this particular age group out of school and actually skiing with them for the whole week. Best of luck with the venture. Having set up a business myself 7 years ago in an industry I already knew very well, I can speak from experience. The number of "things" that needed sorting out, monitoring and co-ordinating were many more than I could possibly have envisaged!!! Are you already working within the education sector? If not, then the learning curve will be uber steep. |

There are some absolutely top notch grade A threads on this forum (like this one). I love popping in to see what happens to be the latest topic for debate. :)

Nice video. Had to turn the sound off though - bloody awful music.... |

We skied La Plagne and Les Arcs in early March 2011. I enjoyed the week a lot but thought that Les Arcs was better linked up than La Plagne. We encountered some pretty bad queues in La Plagne - 20 to 30 minutes at times. For me that is something that really spoils the skiing experience. |

Maybe the forum should be renamed as the "j2ski forum sponsored by GoPro". Maybe a cheesy little jingle when you first log in as well? :D |
