Where is best in Scotland

Hi ssymmo, welcome to J2ski.
From Newtonmore, you will access the turn off for Cairngorm in 15 min, then 20 min up the mountain. Car parking at the main area is generally easier during the week, if it is busy, there is a lower car park and a shuttle bus.
Lift passes are £31.50 per day, £60 for two days, £23 per day if you are a senior.

For Cairngorm information, check:

There are a number of good changes this year, moving from one to four snow cannons, and some fences being changed to ranch style, ~safer, and collects more snow.

Why are fences required? Well, when the weather is good, the skiing is as good as anywhere, but the forecast is:
Northerly 45 gusting 60 mph Temperature -2C, Snow showers.
This isn't typical, but without snow fences, an 80mph wind can strip the snow off the mountain in half a day.

There is a fall back, should there be a problem with Cairngorm, and that is to travel on to the Lecht. Also, good skiing.
Glenshee and Glencoe are a bit of a reach from Newtonmore.

Porquoi? Warum?
I read earlier today this was a UCPA group, and the instructor gave the go ahead.
No avy gear, and a level 4.
Mixed messages about if the second lady survived, she had a cardiac arrest, then the pulse started beating. Later heard that she hadn't made it. There is always a problem with people reading half a story, and adding their own bits.

Naughty step, Andy, guilty of misleading a fellow J2skier.

Totally agree with Jastem about the Mountain Star. Obergurgl has a good choice of places to stay, but both are popular.
I would recommend the Hotel Sportiv and linked sister hotel, Crystal. Three swimming pools, ski hire/locker room in the basement, gondola 10m from door.
