Some people think that they ski better than they actually do. Really annoys me when somebody starts using people as slalom gates. I think the FIS rule says that when overtaking the skier should leave enough space for the skier in front of him to do any maneouvre. Trying to squeeze between the boy and the wall was plainly stupid and careless.

Maybe skis were made different back then, but after 4 years of use (possibly about 120-140m days total) my first ever pair of skis virtually lost the camber. Edges and bases are also prone to wear. |

What is 'lightweight' in K2 language? I was eyeing a deal on GotBack for touring, but I was told I would be better off just changing bindings on my Auras. And the rumour has it that they make the heaviest skis on the market.

Sorry to hear about your client, hope he recovers . It's really unfortunate that it happened but sounds like a pure accident, with resort playing no part in it. Skiing is inherently dangerous sport and this is where it stops in Switzerland. As for the supervision - usually the runs are marked and maintained appropriately and all necessary warnings as to conditions and FIS rules are posted, the rest is pretty much the responisibility of a skier.

I never skied in Megeve, but was there once in May as my friend has a place there and it's a lovely resort. As for skiing, in my opinion it's too low, so a crap shot really for March. In a season like the one just gone you won't get any skiing at all - I was told it was nothing to do there on skis in early March this year, unless you liked skiing on brown snow. But restaurants are great.

It all depends on which direction the wind is blowing. Generally, this part of the world doesn't get as much powder as North America and this winter was exceptionally dry and followed by a very early and very warm spring, still was well-skiable. I skied in Chamonix about 10 days last winter - went for a weekend and then again for a week, and it snowed at least once on both occasions. verbier last season had on average one powder day per week and the season before after a very dry strat to the season it started snowing end of january and didn't stop till May. Having said that, it's not far from Chamonix so conditions are often similar.

I envy your enthusiasm:). Couldn't make myself to go once since Friday. I saw people skiing in resort but to be honest their efforts look a bit desperate. Even that there was some fresh stuff Monday afternoon at 3300m I doubt it's worth putting on the gear and going up. Having said that we are heading to Saas-Fee tomorrow morning: they had descent snow this season, so will have one last day skiing before stopping for the summer. Planning to start doing some ski touring next season, which should bring more possibilities for skiing at this time of the year.
