I live in Abu Dhabi and no hope of buying a selection of helmets here so had to get them in the resort which happened to be Kitzbuhel for the day to have some boots fitted at Daleboot before heading to Jan's place in Niederau. I was only in Kitzbuhel for the day and glad I did buy them as Niederau was just about sold out with the changes to the Austrian laws I suppose. paid too much for the helmets but was more concerned with getiing on the slopes than shopping and as I said we do not have any ski shops here except for Ski Dubai and that is more expensive again. Maybe I should buy obnline and have them sent to one of you guys to forward on to me

Yes I agree safety should be first and is as far as I am concerned, If I could help in any way with your internet purchasing I would be more than happy to do so, they do spray the helmets on return, I'm guessing that has something to do with "Nits"

The ski-ing in the high resorts of France is outstanding, but for a more "rounded" ski-ing experience,Austria cant be beat ( in my opinion) .I spent 10 years with my ski buddies trying all the French resorts until,by chance on a ski trip to St.Anton ,we found out about the nirvana :) And I dont mean the "big" Austrian resorts except SA. ( But keep it to yourself, dont want too many Brits to know )

Again you might have read in previous posting that I have in thirty years of skiing never developed the British love affair with Austria I did have a bad experience with some locals on a summer holiday to Austria but thats another story. But I can't really speak from experience but I guess the Brits have already found SA.

Well thanks for the info and I guess you were being helpful but it is my responsibility to allow enough time to board on time allowing for any traffic, security or custom delays, I have waited on a plane for a couple who was late and the reception they got from the other passengers and not me I might add was very embarrassing hissing and booing but in a way fully deserved.
I don't think I should expect a plane to wait for me if I am late because who's fault is it ? Mine. :)

Well I will certainly raise a glass of something on the 8th to celebrate Mrs webbski's birthday, We are off to Adelboden in Switzerland with Mrs W, Little W stays at Grandma & Pa's, and whats wrong with France a bit expensive I grant you and some resorts are full of Brit's but the skill of it is finding the smaller less commercialized resorts. I am now stepping down from soap box as I'm now beginning to sound like an "N visitor.

cwagner wrote:Hi

I have just returned from Austria where I had decided to buy all 3 kids their own helmets this year. All posters here are right, try and buy the most comfortable one. All 3 kids ended up with a different brand with prices ranging from 40 to 160 Euro as they all fit differently. The top end one I bought should last a few years though as it has all the adjustments etc and hopefully I can hand it down to the other two and get my moneys worth!! My daughter is also a good skiier and a bit gung ho so thought I should get her something which looks good but is very safe. I think it was a Smith and the other two were Uvex

It's the first thing I brought for Little W, didn't quite like the idea of all those other heads in a hired helmet
sorry I should have mentioned I think I paid 20quid for it and it has so far lasted her three holidays, so quids in

I think the one consulation to having to earn a living is the looking forward, I can't help it I'm getting excited now waiting for March 8th to come around

Timeforabeer wrote:The bit where you get off the train, and many of the areas you have to pass through, still look like a Cold War missile silo. But agreed, the main departures bit is swanky. Perhaps too swanky for these times? De Beers diamond with your bottle of water anyone?

Also - do watch out as BA has some very stringent 'if you're not through security by X minutes before your flight you ain't gettin' on' policies. OH who has more air miles than Santa got caught out on a hop to Scotland.

Quite right too. Planes should not be kept waiting by people who cant get there on time.

Again the wise one is correct again
