Actually Finn I was staying at Simon and Marianne's place; really hospitable and welcoming, I agree. |

Hi. In the spirit of the enthusiasm coming out of these postings, I'd like to add that I posted a message on here in December as an apprehensive middle-aged beginner who had booked a package to Niederau in early January, looking for advice. Everyone on here was really helpful and encouraging, and the week's holiday was tremendous. I just thought I'd pass on that I had the opportunity to spend a few days down there again last week and took a couple of half-day lessons as well as skiing on my own. I was reminded what a tremendous place Niederau is and only wish I hadn't waited until quite so late in life before getting going ! Now looking forward to January ! The red-ski school instructors had their end-of-season race on Saturday, but I couldn't tell you how it went as I could not bring myself to leave the Markbachjoch slopes to watch the race; by the way, Gunther's bar was still going strong right up until the end of the week !

Hi there, I would go along with the Coop's comment about the lift pass. Ours certainly took us on all the button lifts and T-lifts in Niederau as well as the gondola up to the top of the mountain with the restaurants and of course the other slopes and button lifts up there as well, and frankly, that was plenty for me as a beginner, more in fact that I could hope to use in a week. Of course, for an advanced skiier it might well be a different thing. The advanced skiers at our hotel seemed to spend a bit more time in Auffach. Have a great time; if you are in the red ski school give my best wishes (from Bill) to the instructor Martin. |

Dear all
Having got back from Niederau yesterday I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on this board for all the useful info, tips and encouragement. The Sonnschein hotel was superb and the red ski school got this oldie beginner to come safely down a red by the end of the week with no damage to ego or body ;) Wanna go again! Soon ! |

... it would be worth the effort to go up and down in the Gondola, enjoy the views over the Kitzbuhler Alps, and have a drink in Rudis bar. Gill's husband, Herbert, runs the Harfenwirt, and Herbert's sister, Maria runs the Bichlwirt~ you should try and visit the Bichl, and try to get to one of Herbert's Harp sessions. The Irish bar O'malleys has live music. Dave, really appreciate these pointers. Thanks. |

Hi Dave and Tony, well if transfer to the resort is included that's a fantastic surprise, as it wasn't clear to me from the booking process and I was given an option for a "private transfer" which seemed rather pricey so I decided to skip it. Great if there is a transfer already in there!
I can only blame my Christmas Eve late-night mental haze for my confusion ;) |
