Sadly not from San Francisco - it seems that no operator does the journey any more. Hire car or bust. However, it is possible to get a coach transfer from Reno airport so may well look at that option (or just go back to Switzerland again where the trains run on time!)

The resort tourist office have confirmed the work I mentioned above to be the installation of more snow-making around the high-traffic area of Jochpass.

I went one August - good snow, overall. Skied in the main New South Wales areas of Thredbo and Perisher-Blue Cow - both have plenty to offer, but the lift pass prices are on the pricey side.

Based ourselves, with a car, in the town of Jindabyne (a bit like an Australian Aviemore!) and chose a different area each day.

There is an awful lot of 'construction' that appears to be going on between the Jochpass restaurant and the Jochstock chairlift. That doesn't seem to relate to the information above - anyone know what's being built?
