Skiing epiphanies?

My skiing epiphany came when I discovered 'freeride' is not just a marketing term.

best pizza restaurant in France

Damn you. Now I have the need to book a trip to ADH...

Pistes, Powder and Pizza. Good job!

I'll second that, best pizzas I've ever had anywhere. I've been to ADH 4 times and their quality has stayed constantly superb.

I know that my old knackered knees need to be eased into a weeks skiing with nothing too challenging in the first couple of days!
ADH Tunnel, how difficult is it?

One of the skiers we skied with had a bad fall on Tortin last season, she fell a long way and it took quite a few months to get fit again. Skiing with us was the first time she'd skied it since.
I prefer steeps to traverses (yes I'm odd like that) so I took the left hand route each time I skied it.

The entry onto the Mt Fort black was fairly icky when I skied it three weeks ago, can only imagine what it was like last year after weeks without snow.
The tunnel is a little steeper than Tortin I think.

I've skied the run I guess 6 times, the conditions have been different every time. The first video posted looked very familiar! I've skied it looking like that or worse.
I've skied it twice in powder conditions, heaven! But I've also skied through avalanche debris, massive ice boulders and rocks. Also massive icy moguls all the way to the bottom.
It's one of those slopes that if the conditions aren't right it can be horrible, but catch it right and it's superb.

You could always pole back out the tunnel again if it looks anything like this one...

not my vid, but watch from about 4:20min you get an idea of how steep.

Am I alone in thinking that most of the people in that video should not have been on a slope like that. It didn't look like much skiing was going on. I'm suprised there was only one man down during those 5 or so minutes.

No you are not alone.... you know my opinion if it is not enjoyable what is the point of doing it ..... just to say that "I've done it"

That's my attitude to skiing as well Ian, but the Tunnel is a marked black run and really good fun.

I would not, however, recommend it anyone who is not capable and confident.

Yes, but the slope itself once you get on it is superb, just that short entry bit is like that. Definitely worth the horrible bit at the top. Problem there is more the number of people, meaning you have to edge down with a lot of caution, it's not cool to run someone down! Once on the main slope it opens out and there's plenty of room.

There are several parts to the tunnel run, most videos only show the top part! Most finish less than a 5th of the way down.

This shot is from just above the last bit, the run joins the path you can see back to the lift station in the distance.
