Welcome to J2ski :D Thermals are pretty important items of clothing, and inferior kit can ruin anyones' enjoyment of their holiday. Best kit is reckoned to be Icebreaker. Mid range is HH. Budget option is Trespass/Dare2B/Aldi etc.

If you are after a bargain, especially with growing children, and are in the UK, get along to a TK Maxx soon. I picked up some Falke thermals from there recently, for one third of the full retail price.

I have some of extremely expensive X-bionic stuff and it's only just OK. The very best I have right now are a set I bought from Aldi which are absolutely fantastic, 20 chf each for top and leggings, however that's the mens stuff, the womens version was fairly poor. There's no reason at all this stuff shouldn't be as cheap as chips, the stuff Aldi has is as good as it gets. Mostly anything's good as long as it's not cotton really.

As for Googleing and the snow reports at the top of this page, I find none of these to be that accurate.

eh? how do you know they're not accurate? if you did know they're not accurate then why ask?

The snow conditions are whatever answer you wanted to hear

Today in Grimentz, the snow's a bit wind affected in places and lumpy in others but there's still some pockets of good snow to be found.

You should put a GB sticker on but you find many Europeans don't bother.

Years ago we used to book the ferry through the AA and they included the breakdown cover, it used to be a good deal but it may have changed.

just the spoor of mountain hares, chamois and ibex; raquettes can clatter a bit so most stuff know you're coming a long way off.

Actually, we weren't skiing, it's not a downhill station, they have this thing of promoting winter pursuits without lifts, snow cannons or piste bashers, so we took snow shoes. I've skied the other side of the ridge many times touring out of Grimentz but never skied down to St Martin, today we took the car round though.

A great day out though, a nice ascent through the forest to the Alpage de Lovégno and a picnic then a different route down. For fun I navigated down solely on GPS which is highly unnerving, I was constantly wanting to get a map out

Internet Chalet Scam

Apparently some Brit's had a bad start to their chalet holiday in Verbier when they arrived and found it didn't exist :!: Here's the story in French :
