Yes, the public transport alternative is a train / tram / bus journey which departs Zürich airport at 22:40 and arrives in Engelberg at 00:40, CHF 60.40 single or CHF 120.80 return. It's also possible to get from Paris to the Valais ski resorts by TGV in winter http://www.tgv-lyria.com/main/FCK/File/site_en/network_map/network_map.asp |

The one in the first video is a Maxxtracks ski slope simulator from Holland which is distributed in the UK by Skiplex. There is also the Realli-Ski Simulator http://www.realli-ski.co.uk/
As Bandit says none of these things are new ideas. They have existed in one form or another for years; they simply get reinvented as technology advances. The SwingBeep was a pressure measurement based learning tool, comprising a pair of pressure sensitive insoles connected to a box of electronics that measured the distribution of pressure under a skier's feet and emitted a 'beep' when it was time to initiate the next turn. This has recently been reinvented as the Moticon SkiGo http://www.moticon.de/wb3/index_de.html |

The cheapest options are Lebara Mobile Classic http://www.lebara.ch/ and yallo prepaid https://www.yallo.ch/kp/dyn/web/pub/home/home.do both use the Sunrise network (second biggest provider) so coverage should be OK.

Not looking too good at the moment is it, and it doesn't look like it's going to get better any time soon. There is no snow forecast for the next 14 days. 69km of piste is already open and Gornergrat will open at the weekend.
Even in a normal year Zermatt doesn't get that much snow. (The large inner-alpine valleys like the Susa and Aosta valleys in western Italy, the Rhone valley (Switzerland), the Inn valley (Austria) and the Adige valley (northern Italy) all are quite dry. The driest regions are those valleys which lead off the main valleys into the high mountain massifs (i.e. Mattertal, Engadin, Oetztal, Vinschgau). Normally this wouldn't be too much of a problem as they have extensive snow making facilities, but it's still very warm. The daytime freezing level is at around 3000m so they can only make snow at night and even then only on shaded runs, as the sunny slopes haven't frozen yet. By the time you get there, there should be more runs open, but I wouldn't expect that you will be able to ski back to the village. |

This Autumn has been much warmer than usual with very little precipitation. It was 0*C at 3000m and 4*C at 2000m today. These readings are from a weather station at 1400m in the Lötschental (Fr 18 - Do 24 is the forecast).
The area of high pressure over Eastern Europe doesn't look like going to go away any time soon. The weather here is forecast to be mainly sunny until next Thursday and the Austrians don't expect any snow before the beginning of December. As the weather has been so mild snow making has only just started, but it isn't very efficient at these marginal temperatures and as you can see some machines are more efficient than others.
The people here are beginning to get concerned http://goo.gl/F7PN0 in spite of all this some places have snow. Cervinia is skiable down to Plan Maison, at Saas Fee the Morenia chair is opening on Saturday and Prali in Val Germanasca 70 km east of Turin http://www.nuova13laghi.com/joomla15/working.html has 130 – 150 cm and opens this weekend. |

The price of train tickets will increase by 3% in December. The Transfer ticket costs CHF 130

If there is still 3cm between the heel and the shell then the boots are almost certainly too big. This thread http://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/24/9787.page details Scapula's attempts to get his oversized (circa 3cm between heel and shell) Head Edge+ 8.5 boots to fit and function. Did the shop where you bought them from follow a procedure similar to this http://www.foot-works.fr/fitting_process.asp?id_fitting=1 ?
