He was the more experienced, he didn't ensure what safety equipment they had was in use, he triggered the avalanche while she was still on the slope.
I can see why they held him responsible, however there has to be an element of personal responsibility here surely? She was experienced enough to know she was acting irresponsibly. I'm almost scared to ask this, given the bobble brigade on here, but was she wearing a helmet? |

Bandit, you just got me looking back to see when I got my first helmet. It was after a near miss in Alpe D'Huez in 2002!
About time I got a flashy new one... Something to make my new skis... |

I stopped using Crystal several years ago as their idea of good service is a great deal lower than mine!
Once they have you money (in our group's case around £45k per year!) I've found that their interest in you as a customer is virtually zero. We'll never use them again. |

There were 5 of us plus our guide, you aren't allowed to go there without a guide. The steep bit is right up the top just below the list.

Some quite ungraceful one footed side-slipping/ stepping!

I can laugh about this now! If you look carefully you see I only have one ski on, the other is about 100 meters below. And yes it is that steep...

Les Arcs is excellent, stayed in Arc 2000 a couple of times. Superb ski area.

Just a suggestion:
http://www.skiworld.co.uk/ski-resorts/france-ski-holidays/val-disere/the-lodge Could get a deal for about £700-750pp including flights, pass, ski carriage, tax etc. Would have to be Jan though to get that price. I stayed there in December and it's fantastic. |
