I would be interested in how you went on, Wanderer. Apart from the skiing, I had a really good social time, (Well, I was out here solo!) Several visits up to the Kellerwirt at Oberau, where one of my mates regailed us with his stories of meet ups in Niederau & Oberau with every day folk like Hermann Maier, Fritz Stroebl, Franz Klammer, Patrick Ortlieb, and a few others. (They come to niederau for race training). To be fair, my mate does spend a lot of time in the Kellerwirt, so he will meet most of the visitors. Maier became a friend since both he and my mate had both been bricklayers! Also, I did have a thoughtful five minutes, as I pondered, (after a fruitless hour and a half trying to get from above Ellmau back to Scheffau), when it was -15deg, and 5 min before the lift closed, and no apparent way of getting off the mountain. I was with a group of eight, all experienced skiers, all reading the worlds worst piste map. They chose to try again going down to another lift. I went up on a couple of chairs, skied down into Ellmau, and got a taxi back to my hire car in Scheffau, 12eu. I later found out that two of the people had walked off the mountain, getting down at 8.00pm. Had a good, slightly emotional meet up with Simon, the ski instructor that walked from Niederau to Glasgow, to raise money for ovarian cancer. And~ I go back in a few days, mit frau! |

Nobody wins a ski boot fight with Admin. I was red carded halfway down the mountain.... :P |

Only one winner! No poles required, just a casual flick of the ski boot as he passes by..... Eco survey done. |

A friend of mine was a previous British champ, with the rather modest time of 240kph. (I think, at the time, his time was briefly the world speed record).
At one time, he lived fairly close to me. He is still competing, but just at a regional/national level. He now lives accross the pond. I recently posted my New Year drawing of Glen Callater on another website, and he messaged to say he had recognised the view straight off, and that his father used to be the gamekeeper in the Glen! In view of that connection, I guess I may have found the rightful home for the drawing. |

The AllStar pass covers both. |

On another site, it has been stated that French ski schools will only hire from BASI Level 3 instructor level. If this is true, how would the French trainees gain their instructing experience?
In Austria, in order to pass the basic Anworter level, the test must be taken in German. This is daft, given that most resort pupils are English or Dutch speaking. The French are adopting a good tactic, by tackling a small company. I doubt that an appeal to a French court is likely to carry success. However, were a company to have sufficient muscle to carry it to a European court, I suggest they would be likely to win. |

"Whilst in Morzine last week ESF had posters up an flyers around offering a tour of the pistes, no instruction, from 1pm-5pm. 34 euros.
That is what it is all about, they want the exclusive on a blossoming trend. Simple as" This is very relevant,Snapzzz, and goes a longway to explaining their actions. |
