Hi,

There are heavy snowfalls in Polish ski resorts atm.
Plenty of snow so should last until your trip.
Where are you going to stay in Poland?

Hi

Krakow (need to get round to booking a hotel). Weather forecast is for rain second part of next week.

However you can have a good day each at the above resorts but if you are a reasonable skier you will struggle to get a week as the runs are limited. But if you are in the area!!

I love Zakopane, although I now the skiing is not great, not been for some years now. Last time I was there it was like water skiing over ice.

Thanks, there is always stuff to do in the hills, canoeing, horse riding, cycling

Tempted to book Livigno on the 21st, will it be still open?

Livigno offers much larger ski area than anything in Poland. It should also be more snow sure.
However if you fancy a short ski trip while in Krakow then Kasprowy Wierch near Zakopane is the highest skiable mountain in the country with 1000 m vertical and 2 long runs. Best suited for intermediate/advanced skiers. For early intermediates/beginners Bialka Tatrzanska near Zakopane is the better option. Krynica Zdroj has been voted the best ski resort in the country for the last 5 years running, but it lies relatively low and is 3 hours on the coach from Krakow. It is also a top Polish spa resort and my favourite ski resort in Poland. You can get weather updates on internetor by phoning the lift companies.

Just read on their website that Krynica is closing on 14 April: :(
Snow condition on Kasprowy Wierch are good, 65 - 195 cm of snow with some fresh snowfall.
Bialka reports very good snow conditions with 70 - 100 cm of snow. No news on end of season date yet, but will be open weekend 13-14 April :)

Usually go on at least two ski holidays a year, this year I had non, employer issuse, family illness stopped me going

looking at snow reports how long will the snow last for.

my employer is sending me to Poland for a week in 13 - 20 of this month, with ski resorts an hours drive away, then i have been promised 10 days off.

where to go?

Last year vowed never to go later then mid March as the skiable slops become fewer but the ski passes stay high priced

Why I love La Plagne

The problem is, I can't quite put my finger on why I don't like it much. I've had two very decent holidays there, plenty of skiing, good snow record, links with Les Arcs etc etc. But it definitely lacks any village focus and there's not much atmosphere. Skiing among concrete tower blocks is dispiriting and the so-called Plagne 1800 must be the most inconvenient location in a mainstream resort. Few facilities either!

Others obviously love it - and good luck to them - but if I were to spend my loot in France, it wouldn't be in La Plagne.

I have to agree about Plagne 1800. It is inconvenient.
However there are plenty of better alternatives to stay, i.e: L'Ottisement de la Foret, Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne & Les Coches to name a few. Most of the wonderful skiing is well away from the concrete architecture, in forests or on a glacier with beautiful views!

L'Ottisement de la Foret is small and cute. You don't have to ski it all if you don't have the legs  I prefer Brits to Russians or Parisians on the slopes!

Just to make sure you make it put La Plagne at the top of the list

We returned from a ski holiday in La Plagne last Saturday. We had a fabulous time :D Snow was fantastic, it snowed on 3 days, so plenty of powder all the way down to Montalbert and Montchavin :!: The area is perfect for early intermediates. My OH has improved her skiing and confidence in La Plagne more that anywhere else before. Plenty of cosy, friendly and reasonably priced mountain restaurants. Much better in this respect than 3V. Even the slightly longer lift queues than we are used to, due to French holidays, did not spoil what was a fantastic week of skiing! Lovely views of Mont Blanc range from the pistes. Varied apres ski scene. Highly recommended :!:

The jazz trio we've seen at Hotel Arlberg was superb, however no table or pogo dancing, if that is what you are after :?:
