We stayed in the Hermitage about 5 years ago.
No complaints at all. Location was fantastic on the bottom of the piste right in the centre of town. The evening food was good. Breakfast a bit sparse. Small hotel and the staff were nice and friendly. Our room had a massive balcony over looking the piste. No extra facilities were there when we stayed such as sauna, pool, etc. It was a good, cheap stay. Things may have changed in 5 years though. |

Easyjet fly from Manchester to Munich a few times a week now. Geneva also. Jet2 fly to Chambery and Salzburg from there.
Manchester's low cost routes are expanding every season. Leeds/Bradford is a good one to keep an eye on too. You can sneak some great flight deals from there at times. Jet2 are offering free ski carriage if you book before the end of October. |

Les Deux Alpes at the beginning of February, I think. I've noticed it doesn't get much of a mention on here.
Any tips on ski schools? Restaurants, bars etc, all gratefully received. |

One of the few Watchdog programmes I've ever watched covered this. The airlines are deliberately putting gauages in airports smaller than their published sizes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2010/09/bmi_baggage_blunder.html That they get away with it is pretty scandalous. |

The Ski Helmet Debate

I'm wondering how clear the insurance company will make it that they demand a helmet is worn.
If it's not very clear and the person covered isn't looking for it they won't have to insure them if they do injure their head. I wonder what percentage of skiers read the small print. This forum has definitely made me more aware of the need to read it. The same question could be raised for the alcohol question. Insurers don't seem to advertise these clauses very much. |
