'Epic' snow

Smashtastic........

I knew my sources for all things snowy would be spot on, just arrived back from BsM and the snow has been astonishing, in fact I cannot think of a start to the season like this for donkey's years.

Came back with BensBus today ,they picked me up at BsM Gare Routiere, but were about 40 minutes late due to the road down from Val & Tignes being completely blocked at 5am this morning with quite a lot of avalanche debris from what the rep said.

Down in BsM the local plough chap's did a blinding job , but I imagine the chaps up the valley had their work cut out for them over the last few days....superstars the lot of them.

Stay safe and well when you go next people, but more importantly have a great time.

Hi,

I know it's not quite the answer , but if you can stretch to a week, on the transfer side I have just used BensBus for a return transfer Geneva - Bourg-St-Maurice - Geneva for only £73.

On the car hire side have you looked at Autoeurope, they are about the cheapest car hire people about and rate them very highly after 10 years and many tens of trips.

All the best

Hi All,

Just a quick heads up , I have just got back from Bourg-Saint-Maurice and to put it bluntly there' been a blummin lot of snow!.

If any of you J2Skiers is off for Christmas to the Tarentaise/Savoie or Alps in general please take care due to the substantial avalanche risk over the next few days to the end of next week.

Stay safe and have an enjoyable time wherever you are going.

Thoughts on the Euro Crisis?

Hi All,

I'm a little surprised by the lack of thought's for want of a better word.....no Euro.....no skiing, or much more expensive skiing could be the result.

Hopefully not though.

Some other form of monetary exchange will take it's place in the event of a collapse this is an absolute certainty, it will either be two stage Euro, back to Sovereign Currency.....or the worst case scenario a "Credit" based currency backed by even less ...well nothing to be precise, this coupled with Fractional Reserve Banking will mean NO skiing holidays for many people.

Right that's enough of the doom and gloom , but heads need to be taken out of the sand.

....right back to the webcam's and Ardbeg for my cold

Thoughts on the Euro Crisis?

Hi Folks,

I'm off to BsM on Saturday and am wondering what people think the future holds for the Euro ( funny monkey metal coins and duff looking notes I know but.... ).

As the next round of financial hand wringing and talks are on the day before ( Friday 9th )I think it may be prudent to take plenty of Sterling also....

.....mind you on the plus side if they do pull the plug because they cannot and will not find the Trillions to bail France , Spain and Italy ( again ) out I may be stranded in the Alps for many months ).

But deep down I think they will keep the dying Euro struggling on as too many fortunes and career's hang on it's outcome so we may be okay for now....

...what are your thought's ?
