Hi Mono
If backcountry is what you crave, then Las Lenas in Argentina is a good option although if the Marte lift is closed you may find it hard to get your fix without long hikes. Some of the smaller resorts have lots to offer as they have less visitors and easy hikes to lots of pow. Fora 15 minute hike you can have a whole bowl to yourselves. You can contact me through our website or emailing me from here if you want specific details. Don't want to spoil them by posting names of resorts ina public forum! |

and if your friend doesn't have all the kit e.g. probe & shovel, but only a transceiver...
Give him yours, then if he has to find you, he can also dig you out, and if you have to dig him out, tough he doesn't have his own shovel and probe! Hopefully he may get the message and buy them! |

Hi, I am coming over to Whistler in April and want to visit other resorts in BC between 18th and 25th April.
Do you know if the resorts usually continue there seasons through this time, and if they will be worth visiting around that time? I am particularly thinking of Red Mountain & Kicking Horse. many thanks |

I have always tried to be very careful with my snowboard, not easy when undertaking apres! and have been lucky so far.
Recommendations... Buy a lock with coated wire that is made 100% out of steel or other metal. My first 2 were full on gadgets with plastic bodies or key points that just gave way when I first used them. I always try to place my board in view of the restaurant or bar I go into. Not always possible but helpful when you can. Place distinctive markings on your skis - like a sticker or something similar - then there can be no mistake (or excuse from them) if you catch someone making off with them. If you can't find something to lock them to locking them to your friends and leaving them in a tangled pile seems to be better than nothing. If there is a ski locker service use it of course. I would also expect that if you locked your skis the insurance company couldn't argue that you hadn't taken all reasonable precautions to safeguard them. |

Its here - several inches in Munich should equate to heaps in the Austrian & German Alps.
St Anton was getting lots of precipitation last week, it was just too warm but that all seems to be changing now. Pray for Snow |

It's snowing here in Munich, so they must be getting it up in the mountains (Munich is one hour from the Alps and much lower of course).

It all seems to be going with the forecasts. It's started to rain/sleet in munich now so should mean snow in the mountains tonight

Hi Mono
Spent 3 seasons in Termas and loved it and have had several trips to Bariloche. BRC is somewhat different in that it is near the town of San Carlos de Bariloche where the Porteños (people from Buenos Aires) take their holidays, so more busy than most South American ski resorts. There is some excellent touring around Bariloche however. There are also several smaller resorts in the area. If it's powder & backcountry you crave, then let me know as I know a very good guide and there is a heli operation down there. |
