Yeah no worries, weird that trees don't bother me at all when hitting one, even at relatively, low speed would do me far more damage (potentially) than dropping off an edge (of the World!).

As well as the grading of a slope it's the actual 'type' of slope that either gives me confidence or leaves me shivering at the top like a lemming with an uncontrollable survival instinct!
By 'type' I mean is it tree lined, in a bowl/vally or does it have drop offs either side. I'm a happy hacker intermediate skier, I'm always in control (just) but my technique needs a lot of work. I am much happier skiing tree lined pistes or those in a vally than anything with a drop at one or both sides. I think it may be my fear of heights that does it (or fear of a terrible mangled heap of a death!) - even if I know for a fact that the drop-off may be very gradual or almost non-existent i just can't get past the fear. Maybe the better, more confident and more in 'total' control I get the better I'll be eh. Off to Obergurgl in March and apparently I may have to conquer my demons as quite a few runs have drop offs. |

Shamrock bar was about €6.5 for a Guinness/Kilkenny (not inc in happy hour) and Kronenberg was €4.5 during happy hour (5-6) Ughhhh.....just seeing the name of the Shamrock makes me shiver. Was on a stag do in VT Dec 2005, they stopped selling us shots of Toffee Vodka and just gave us the bottles - the scar on my chin is testament to this! |

I thought that Silk socks were usually a 'liner' sock to worn under normal ski socks for extra warmth. They work the same a baselayers essentially.
Caveat to that response is that 'I thought' - I'm no expert! |

Staying at the Edelweiss and Gurgle and I'm sure they would do a transfer, was just wondering what other options there were.

Hi All,
There's a group of 8 of us off to Austria in March, can anyone recommend a decent firm for the transfer between Innsbruck Airport and Obergurgl? I can obviously Google it but its a bit pot luck so wonder if anyone had used a good firm for a private transfer (as oppose to a scheduled bus). Cheers N |

Walkie Talkies are great banter when in larger groups as you can all join in (the usually inane and useless) conversations. If just me and the OH go we just turn of roaming and use of our normal phones as it's only if we are late or lost that we need them.
As with most things discussed on the forum it's down to personal preference. For your situation Moogy I would either use your own current phones (ensuring roaming is turned off), if you wanted to use the spares in case of damage then have you considered buying a SIM in the country you are visiting which would be cheaper (if you're phones are unlocked), alternatively stick with Plan A and get a couple of £10 SIMs. |
