I put my boots in my rucsac. My OH puts her boots in a suitcase. Not used a boot bag for many years.
Then, I carry my rucsac, and hand baggage, and my OH's suitcase. |

So, you may be looking at Zell am Zee, Kitzbuehel area, Ski Welt.
Easy way is to email the tourist boards, giving your dates and requirements. I did this with the Ski Welt, they passed the email out to all their hotel contacts, and several hotels & pensions contacted me directly, with a result. That was over a New Year. |

We have been ina similar situation. My good lady broke her leg at the end of one October. She was in plaster for four weeks, and six weeks later we were due to go skiing. She would not entertain any discussion, we were to go.
As it happens, she skied, (really well, as ever, :( ), but she did suffer some pain. She just skied at her own speed, finished early, if needed, and it worked OK. Her philosophy was, "if I can't ski, I will sit on the balcony and read a book". Don't know what I saw in her, really. Nowadays, she has a much more serious condition, and has to be far more careful than a broken leg. |

Icy? You like curvy cars? Do you wear lipstick as well? Or is that only when you are skiing? 8) |

There are a number of places to rent. Here is a general site for the area:
http://www.liftverbund-feldberg.de/Ski-Board/Skischulen-Skiverleih Here is the site for a ski rental, located in the centre: http://skiverleih-feldberg.de/ Again, for a few days, and when you are trying a sport, don't go crazy. You do need eye protection, but I never wear goggles, i just wear sunnies. You also need gloves. That's it. |

Boardbiker! Much respect! 278mph, 447kph, a new world record!!!! Beats my puny 102kph. And swallows my friend's 240 kph, (then a British record!) For this reason, I am not a fan of the accuracy of apps. When I broke the Niederau day run record, there was a wheen of local analysis that would far out weigh any apps! |

Hi Ishuaia,
I have had one afternoon there, during a drive from Scotland to Austria. It is a hazy memory, but the skiing was pleasant, interesting. Good for a beginner, they have beginner slopes. (Difficult for me to comment on snowboard beginner.) Can't help with equipment, but if you google the ski hire then send them an email, you should get a response. Don't worry too much about equipment. No one knows if this is good gear, or the trousers you wore to the pub, last night! No avalanche danger perceived on our visit! Don't think you have any fears there! Go for it! |

Skiing near Munich in late December
Started by Turn2turn in Germany, 4 Replies, discussing Seefeld and Söll |

If you travel south east on the Autobahn, past Rosenheim, come off at Kufstein Sud, about an hour. Then it is a short run, 15 min across to Söll, giving access to the Skiwelt.
Alternatively, continue on the back road from Kufstein Sud, (thus avoiding the autobahn tolls), to Wörgl, and then 7km up to Niederau, or up the valley to Auffach. |
