:Dhi nice to see you all again, and reporting for duty :D
:Dhi,merry xmas and a happy new year,
the distance from Les Menuires to Les Arcs is about 66km and in good weather and traffic should only take around 1 hour 20 minutes there abouts(try avoiding this on a saturday as this is transfer day and the road up the valley can be choked with traffic,if you have to do this on a saturday do the drive early morning between 8 -11 am).
I am not entirely sure which bus/coach transfer companies will operate this route but you could try the following-www.satobus-alps.com ,www.altibus.com or www.autocars-martin.com(think the web address for the last one is correct),the other option would be to hire a car for your holiday and do the trip under your own steam, a weeks car hire through autoeurope-0800 169 9797 for example should be around £130 for something like a fiat punto + fuel and road tolls.
hope this info is of use and wish you all the best for your holiday.

:Dhimerry xmas and a happy new year.
if you go to the geneva airport home page at www.gva.ch on the left hand side you will see some tabs,go to the one that says Access,Transportation,Accommadation then to Public Transfer then to Ski Resorts (click on this),you will then see a page with French Ski Stations-Aeroski-bus,this is accompanied by a pdf link that will show you all the routes, timetables and fares to various resorts in the alps that are accessable from geneva airport. There is also www.satobus-alps.com,www.alpski-bus.com and wwww.altibus.com that can help.
If you are looking to hire a car (transfer time of around an hour or so depending on traffic and weathr) i would suggest Autoeurope 0800 169 9797,this is a company with offices in manchester but are actually based in maine, new england and will provide car hire cheaper than going direct to the car hire companies themselves, the last car i hired (fiat punto) through autoeurope with europcar was £134 but if i had hired direct from europcar would have been £189.Also if you hire a car from the swiss side at geneva it will come with snow tyres and also may include chains aswell, when hiring from the french side this is not the case.
i hope some of this is of help to you and wish you all the best for your trip
many regards

:Dhi again, sorry made a slight error with the transfer time from Bourg-saint-maurice,for some reason was thinking of Val (someone else contacted me with virtually the same question, and i have a brain like a sieve),the transfer time from BSM to Ste.Foy is only about 20 - 25 mins if the weather and traffic are ok.
sorry for the slight error
many regards

:Dhi,merry xmas,
if you go to the geneva airport homepage at www.gva.ch,on the left hand side you will see some menues,he one that says-Access,Transportation,Accomadation,then Public Transport, thenSki Resorts then (click on this),you will then see a link for French Ski Stations-Aeroski-Bus,and a pdf link ,fares and timetables to Bourg-Saint-Maurice.From geneva the bus may go all way to your resort, but if it just drops off BSM train/bus station you can then take a transfer from there(usually autocars-martin)by bus and will take around 30 to 40 mns depending on the weather and traffic etc.
hope this is of help and i wish you all the best for your holiday and a happy new year. :D

:Dhi all,i suppose my best purchase would have to be my Berghaus Tramontana Fleece with its Goretex Windstopper lining,it may be getting on for 14years old by now(but still looks good as new)and is toasty warm even when its -15 or colder so.Mind you in blizzards the snow sticks to it like s*** to a blanket and i end up looking like a snowman.
mery xmas to one and all :D

Last Run Ever?

:Dhi Geofm, thats the beauty of skiing you can make it as hard or as gentle as you like, and as long as you spend the day with a smile on your face thats all the reward anyone should need :D.
With regards to age and the pins starting to ache it is not uncommon to see skiers in thier late 60's or 70's so you should forward to many years yet on the slopes, hopefully as people get older the technique improves so not so much physical strength is needed,i am in my mid thirties and not as fit as i should be but i can ski longer and harder than i could 10years ago s my technique is better. :Denjoy every run.
