Sorry for turning this in to a helmet thread Ian, as long as we can leave the 'helmet/no helmet' debate out of it and make it genuine observations from the slopes then it should be OK. If it does turn in to that I think it should be locked.

Quite a few instructors (and ski friends) in Banff (LL & Sunshine) were wearing helmets. Most people on the slopes were wearing them too, even a lot of the English tourists and beginner skiers. I wore mine a few days but it is very snug fitting so when it was especially cold it became a lot more rigid and uncomfortable. Also haven\t had my hair cut for 6 months which can't help. Either way, the wearing of helmets for whatever reason is definitely on the up.

'All ligaments', I'd imagine staying narrow could be good for you too (especially if you are just staying on piste). Unnecessarily fat skis will just add more strain.

Handbags away ladies.

Usually takes me a few runs to get my boots to the point where I am totally comfortable in them. If they are too tight straight away then they hurt and it takes time for them to feel right. Usually don't bother with the bottom 2 at all unless I am skiing something particularly steep or fast. The power strap is the first thing to get done up followed by the 2 buckles below (first thing I can only just get them on the first notch) then they gradually get tightened over the first couple of runs.

Driving to the Alps eh ;)

I'm just kidding. That's rough, hope everything is sorted out and the Wickhams get home safe and well.

I don't really know anything but I'd go for something a little shorter and a bit more forgiving. Maybe a 162 and a ski lower down the range.

OTOH, if you get in to your rehab there is no reason you can't come back as strong as ever and get back on the Tornado's.

There are more resorts than I can think of in interior BC. You will be spoiled for choice! I am moving back to the flat today but I will try and dig out my map with all the resorts on it.
