It is quite irritating because you can't really tell the real shape of the skis

To be honest I am not overly bothered with the amount of money, just think its a bit of a scam, but hey ho that's exactly what it is. At the end of the day the costs are not an issue, getting skiing is all that matters.

If you are flying from London just go BA and get your cheap, plentiful ski carriage and decently priced flights and get your buddies in Manchester to connect through Heathrow. You'll all end up on the same plane and arrive at exactly the same time.

Maybe there is an issue but if you aren't concerned about cost the 'scam' is easily avoided.

For me it is worth the 2 hours in transit from Heathrow/Gatwick from Glasgow to fly a half 'decent' airline. It is possible, whether you want to do it or not is a different matter altogether.

BA, for example, fly 2-5 times a week to Salzburg depending on when you fly and 5 times a week to Geneva. Return flights are about £100 right now (London-Geneva).

Also i fail to see how the excess baggage works, i can weigh 80kg with 25kg luggage & have to pay for the extra 5kg luggage & someone else can weigh 125kg & 20kg luggage & that's fine. I am all for paying extra, however just be fair, £20 each way for say £15kg is ok, but don't take the P1ss out of the people trying to go on holiday.

I think that sometimes but there is no way they could give people baggage relating to how much they weigh so a set amount is a must. If you don't like it you should pay a premium and fly an airline with favourable terms.

If you go on a low cost carrier or charter flight you just have to expect it.

Fly BA and enjoy all 23 kg of your ski allowance. Just avoid the striking.

I don't see this website as a site solely devoted to technical matters to do with ski-ing. It is also a place to enjoy a laugh with fellow skiers, and somewhere to come to when one needs support. I think if the social side of it was lost it would be a much poorer website.

However, I do sympathise with the casual reader who simply wants to know something like where to buy a lift pass, and then has to trawl through a whole lot of misplaced humour etc.

I'd be quite happy to save all my 'wibble' for the new social section and be strictly serious in all the other sections.

The discussion has been done at length. I came round to the fact it should purely be a skiing forum otherwise it will turn in to... well
