Hi MaccA and a warm welcome to our cosy little world :P
(and now we risk one of those monster threads that spirals into infinity) Might I just mention that you "shouldn't" need to rely on altitude to achieve your requirements ... Last year, on 29th March, at 850m I was skiing quality, natural pistes and some untracked off-piste ) As a quick search of previous threads will show, altitude can have it's problems with "snow sureness" too (glaciers excepted). Anyway, just a thought :D Jan |

Dave, that was in the summer, this is now ;) The word on the street is that Georg has smelt the snow and feels he may well have another season in him after all :P ... watch this space! As an aside, my wife was deeply "enamoured" with Georg when he was her instructor "some moments ago" ;) consequently our youngest son is named George !! Jan |

I've been using the LEKI "Trigger" system glove for the last two seasons (same pair of gloves) and after more than 180 days use there are now some signs of wear :(
At first I found the whole Trigger thing fiddly and awkward and the first few beers I tried to drink were mostly spilt :( However, after “adapting” to the concept I find them very easy to use. Bizarrely, on the very last day of the season I departed from the hostelry only to find that someone had accidentally taken one of my poles and left one of theirs both were LEKI Triggers but theirs were the thinner type. Popping into the shop at the weekend to replace my mismatched pair, I discovered that LEKI have now introduced a new “Trigger S” pole. To my eye the concept looks very weak (a tiny piece of thread to connect me to the pole) but has anyone else had thoughts on the design? Luckily, I can still get the old style too so no problem :) Oh, and as for the gloves? Fantastic! Warm, supple, VERY hardwearing and easy to maintain. Jan |

I guess it would depend on how noisy you were planning to be :P ... but hey why not it's a big house! It'd be handy for you to have a base here, but you would have to become an "N" type person ) I guess that's a balance you'd have to judge  Let me know what you're thinking !! Jan (btw - this would could apply to any other "introducers" too. But, max two extra people. The apartment has a king size bed and can easily take an additional single) |

Hi all,
I'm looking for someone to help out for the season (2nd January 2009 – End of March 2009) The primary job will be cooking fast food: Burgers; chips, sausages; Pannini(sp?); Kebaps; etc. for 2 hrs per day 11:00 – 13:00. For this you will be paid €10,- per hour. This is a 7-days per week task. Additionally, and by arrangement, extra tasks might include: Driving guests around town and transfers to and from airports (full, clean licence essential); helping out in the bar during busy evenings; Helping prep apartments during changeover days (cleaning; changing beds; vacuuming etc) and other tasks as might be appropriate. Payment for these tasks will be included by negotiation ;) You would have your own 40m2 apartment with private shower, kitchen, bedroom and TV which would be provided free of charge for the season. There is one non-negotiable condition: You must be a non-smoker (tobacco or otherwise)! We are a family run business and would welcome enquiries (by PM) from anyone who is interested in helping. Naturally any time you are not working you are free to spend on the hill! Let’s hope there’s someone out there who fancies a great winter in the mountains! Jan |
