I used to work in Switzerland and cover a few resorts, including Nendaz & Zermatt. Your best bet, if you're looking to simply go from the airport to your chosen Swiss resort and back again, is a Swiss Transfer Ticket. It would include the bus from Sion up to Nendaz as well. I used to point my customers in the direction of swisspasses.com (http://www.swisspasses.com/railpass/transfer/).

I've never had a good experience when using Chambery, weather has always played its part and I've spent many an hour there. The problem is the terminal just cannot cope with lots of delayed flights. Try to use Geneva these days as the weather is much more stable there.

Just myself, I may be going out just for a few days to meet some friends in Valmeinier. Lyon has the cheapest flights in and out but the website and the trans-alpes website isn't very clear on what bus transfers there are and what time they run. The train may be the best option. |

Does anyone know the best/cheapest way to get from Lyon airport to Valmeinier? I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be a direct bus link unless I am mistaken. I've heard its quite easy to get the train to Saint Michel from Lyon and then get a bus up the hill, has anyone got any experience in doing this?
I haven't booked a flight yet so any suggestions on which airport is the most convenient would be very much appreciated. |
