Hi Andy,

On you're question about the cost of a smmall resort, since the fall of the pound and interest rates the commune of Sainte-Foy has banned people from putting for sale boards on their balconies, as if they had not it would look like the whole resort was for sale,50 million or so big ones would buy a lot of chalets.

:DI have already bought my ticket and put it in my lucky ski sock...mind you on past luck it might be better to call it my unlucky sock :D

I think the first thing i would do after making sure my family and closest friends were taken care of,would be to buy a 6 - 8 bdroom all ensuite chalet in the Tarentaise...but would have my main home in switzerland (on overlooking lake Geneva) for tax reasons :DOh i would not tell Gordon Brown where i ws going aswell....as no doubt the thieving little commie would try and steal some of it :D

:DHi,

Now you mention having to pay for a pint in London Scarlett ,i can recall fitting the bar/restaurant at the MASH bar in London maybe 7 years ago and they were asking about £7 - £7.50p in the bar for just half a lager even back then :( so even though the prices in europe are not so good because of the exchange rate....they may not actually be that bad after all in comparison.

Mind you the cheaper the plonk the better :D

This kind of proffiteering by the airlines gets my goat.....

When you see the size of the gas of luggage taken on as hand luggage with no weight check required, it makes a complete nonsense of the weight limits for skis etc.

:DHi, in a word or two its not cheap,

Mind you if you buy crates from the local supermarket ( as long as this is not a supermarket in a resort up at the end of the valley) you can still find good value plonk.

In Lidl's in BsM you can buy a 24 pack of small beers (4.5% - 5%) for around 5 euros, and its preety good stuff,or a litre of wine for about 1- 1 1/2 euros. Also SuperU in BsM has some excellent well priced booze :D :D

Have a few before going out then you do not need so much while out is my motto in the current situation

Hi,

Sorry to hear about you're employmrnt situation :(, I think this year is going to be very difficult for many....I think there is a chance my job is not going to be terribly secure over the next three or four months :(.

On the spending a month or even the season in the mountains..good call, life is too short, with excellent conditions and cold temperatures this year is looking good, have you thought about the Tarentaise area, with several resorts in the Valley and beyond it may be worth a look?.

All the best for the future and hope the snow gods smile on you both
