Skiing in Verbier in mid March 2012?
Started by User in Switzerland, 8 Replies
Mid March will be fine. I'd not worry about the temps, the snow base is plenty cold enough to survive, and you can ski higher up if the village slopes are too warm.

As for staying in Martigny, yes, you'll save money, but you won't get much skiing done unless you get up early, takes around an hour to get up to Verbier from the valley.

Stretch your budget to Le Chable, get the bubble up from there?

Take some lessons to improve your skill level, and ski at the speed that you feel happy with.

There should be no pressure on you to go faster, skiing is a personal pastime unless you are in a competition.

Everyone is different, and takes their own pleasure from different elements of skiing.

If you are going fast all the time, you will be spending your time concentrating on just that, missing out on everything else around you.

You might get your change in Swiss Francs, but most tourist places accept both currencies.
If this was the 1st time it had happened to resort staff we might be surprised. There are plenty of Cowboy Outfits running their business on a shoestring.

I hope that there will be a general tightening up on local licensing in Alpine Resorts next winter, which will benefit workers, suppliers and customers.

As for the bloke at the top, he recruited them, so he needs to pay them for the hours they've done. Then he needs to give them notice, or money in lieu, in line with the law where their contracts were signed.

Trencher, ISTR Pole Straps having break away clips on the straps when I started learning in the 1980's. The idea seems to have been dropped.

Zermatt opens it's lifts early for summer skiing. I've been in the queue at 7.45.
The best slopes for Boarders would be the Theodul glacier area, as it has a chairlift.
Up on Plateau Rosa it's T Bar and drag lifts all the way, plus the run back to Trockener Steg is very flat and long and would be awful on a Snowboard.
That long white Beard is a fake too :P

Though I think I've pished off the Tooth Fairy recently as I have toothache
