the one thing I will concede is that being able to pole across flat traverses and not unbuckle IS the definite advantage skiing has over riding

two edges on icy surfaces is another one..

..but nothing can beat riding in the pow !!

 getting late!

Do you ski as well?

I was on the wind up. Snowboarding definitely has its place and I know a few skiers who think that snowboarding pow is great. Skiing makes a lot of things a whole load easier though.

Tony_H wrote:Thats odd, as I had M12 on my old Blizzards and they are currently on my wifes K2's (actually just checked and they are M10s but basically the same binding) and they are fine. In fact, I think they are the queitest bindings I have come across to clip into. If thats relevent?

Not really relevant. A lot of people prefer bindings with a good solid click (impression of security I guess). One of the most 'plasticky' bindings out IMO. I doubt they have had a great deal of use between you and your wife, especially not going at any reasonable speed, on the other hand, the OP will use them off piste so should probably go for something a bit more substantial.
Nice vid... thanks for sharing ;)

The m12s don't have a great rep either. I have some on old skis and they have developed some slop.

Also make sure you double check the route given and be aware that a sat nav may try and direct you over a closed mountain pass.

Going to go ahead and assume this person lives in the US, not much in the way of indoor slopes there.

Get lessons; dress warm and don't wear a hockey top/moto cross gear. Good way to do it on the cheap is to borrow a load of your buddies kit.
