Used my Spyder Chamonix jacket and pants for the first time last week. -15 degrees up on the Glacier and only one wicking layer underneath. Plenty warm enough
Must add: Also used my helmet for the first time. Brilliant for keeping them ears warm. |

I've emailed them asking for the dates. As soon as I get them I'll let you know. What I do know is - 3 nights half-board, transfer from Geneve, no lift pass this time but only £79. |

Very Good. Very well organised but at the same time very relaxed. The hotel staff couldn't do enough to help. Everything was shut the first day so we did a spot of hiking up the double M but then the next day, and particularly the last day, was perfect. Never did get to try the boots though. I had brought my own and couldn't bring myself to spend a day in a pair that might not be as comfy. Nobody seemed to mind. They also had a large range of skis although they were mainly Metrons and Nomads. We're now planning to return to the same hotel in April when they'll be doing another great deal. |

Dear TheSnowGod,
Upon arival in Tignes we did indeed come across your delivery. Infact, such was the extent of your delivery that we had to stop and fit the snowchains just to get to the delivery address. TheWindGod was being a bit childish on the first day causing the local piste shamen to close all the lifts but by the second day all was well. In the absence of TheWindGod the Grande Motte was open, as was the Double M run back into resort! Nice run that. Not so nice when the snow cannons instantly coat your goggles in a blinding layer of ice but oh how we laughed afterwards! Just like to add, Mountain Sun who are running the Atomic Boot camp are amazing. They couldn't be more helpfull. They're planning some similar low cost deals towards the end of the season so back to Tignes it is then.
The Delivery in Tignes Les Boisses.

And anything by DJ Otzi.
I do confess to owning the DJ Otzi albmum. I bought it for an alpine party - obviously. Oh and I downloaded the Sound Convoy album too. Off to French Alps tomorrow for the first time. Can I expect the same quality music? |

Just a thought from a skiing noob like myself.
Pavel created a thread a while ago about 'ski feel'. Ski feel is essential when testing various skis to be able to tell the difference between them and choose one that suits your style of skiing. The trouble is, you don't get taught 'ski feel' in ski school and I don't reckon you will start to get it for a little while after starting to ski. Ski feel kicks in when all the more pressing concerns start to dissappear. Concerns like, 'I can't stop!!!', I can't turn', 'This is too steep', 'My feet hurt'. Once you become confident with your skiing and think about things less then you can start to look for new things to think about. At that point it's probably the time to start trying different skis as it's only at that point that they won't all feel the same. I was quite chuffed the other day when I skied on four pairs of skis and could tell the differences between them. Having said that they were all very different. They were my own skis, some 'industrial' dryslope hire skis, Salomon LAB slalom skis and some Salomon 1080 twintips. You probably couldn't get more different but hey - I was pleased! |
