hope you've all packed your thermals!!
Tony - New year's eve was very busy and we queued for up to 20 minutes for some lifts. The rest of the week was much quieter with minimal queueing. The ski area is pretty vast and can cope with the numbers most of the time.
Have a great time j2skiers!! To get you in the mood:

Pavot run (red) into Tignes Les Brevieres

View of Val d'Isere from Triffolet (red). Much more enjoyable that the green Verte run

Great views at the top of the L'Aiguille Percee

We love the place so much that we are seriously considering a 2nd visit at the end of March.
Resorts with steep pisted blacks.

Snapzzz, you need to get yourself to Espace Killy before too long. I'm sure you would love it. Le Face as an early morning run is really good fun.

I was going to ski the Sache black run down into Tignes Les Brevieres but I could see that the top part was mogulled and I didn't fancy committing to 2.5km of that!!
Sestriere Olympic Piste vs VDI Face

Skied Le Face at 4.30pm again and later in the week at 9.30am. The difference between the two times is remarkable.

Late in the day, the main piste is a bit of a mess with icy scraped patches and heaps of soft snow. Picking your way through this lot takes a level of skill that is still beyond me (although I can get down with plenty of pauses and deep breaths). The early morning run was really enjoyable and not too tricky for an intermediate skier like moi.

Photo 2: leaning back, no weight on left ski which is now in "phantom foot position".
Photo 3: ACL snapping dream position, weight all infront of left knee. Weird angle between hip, knee toe.

Had your bindings not released (which they are not really designed to in those positions), you would not have been a happy chappy.

Obviously, like everyone have done similar, less style. Just an observation having spent lot of sofa time reading about body mechanics and avoiding repeat of ACL rupture misery.

You do sound like my dear old ma!! -)

In reality the crash was a lot more slow-mo than the pictures may imply. I felt obliged to shower my children with snow every time they stopped ahead of me!! All part of the fun of skiing!!

Best of luck with your knee rehab.

Exercises for skiing?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - try "Astanga Yoga". I've been going to a weekly Yoga class for a year now and my flexibility has increased enormously. I suppose my skiing may also be improving, but I got through last week's skiing with the least aches/pains to date.

Nice and responsive (when actually attached to my feet!). I didn't venture off piste very much but will be gearing up for more exploring next time round.
