For those of you going to Niederau soon.....

I too have been reading the comments about Neiderau and I am interested in the place.

It sounds like a small resort, with not a massive ski area and isn't one of the more well known small, exclusive resorts. But, there's no doubt more forum space appears to be given to it than any other resort.

I see lots of late deals there and I think one day I would love to give it a try. I am always surprised at the amount of late deals when I see how many have been, are there or are about to go!

This is based on all the positives I've read - the night life sounds fun, lots of regulars who return time after time and the skiing does sound good.

Obviously I appreciate not everyone wants the same from a ski holiday and I've been to some of the larger resorts where you barely need to do the same run twice and had a ball. But I've also been to places full of charm that draw you back - it seems N is one of those.

Fun! I had a target shooting friend that took great delight in turning up on a range with kit 20 years out of date. The locals used to take the mickey or offer patronising advice. Right up until he shot rings round them!

Fantastic! That happened between me, (me & my boots are approaching our silver wedding!), and another J2skier. He hasn't stopped slagging off Niederau since!

Dave,
Are you saying you skied rings around the other J2Skier?

Will you and your boots be celebrating the forthcoming anniversary?
April Skiing

I was going to suggest Grand Massif - from personal experience of skiing there, April has been consistently good for Easter skiing.

I would say it's a pretty safe best 1st week in April.

That looks fun Snappzz.

Snow looks good, my sis was in Les Arcs last week and said snow was fine high up.

Would you go back? (In view of the dog mess)

Nice teeth btw :D

EmmaEvs wrote:Is it really as expensive as I believe it is to take a kid skiing though? Their lessons are no cheaper are they? Lift passes free until age 5 in Austria though so I guess that makes up a bit. They grow out of clothes really fast too. New outfit every year...

This year taking a "Dustbin lid " skiing ...... Lift pass €158, Lessons €103, Ski & boot hire €37 and a snowboard lesson and board hire €55 Total ....€353

And thats with out new ski suit, new snow boots and the chalet costs .... Anybody wanna a kid

and it gets worse as they get older....
Lift pass prices increase as they don't get child prices, they eat more & drink more!

On the plus side, taking your kids skiing is great fun and mine have always appreciated going.

If you're lucky you can get good deals.
For instance - Samoens Christmas and Easter- normally do a kids under 12 free everything, hire, accommodation, passes & lessonswith an adult buying same product. So that's a great saving.

Who is going Niederau and when?

Ally

I think you will find Ally that most alpine resorts have great scenery

You are right in saying most...not all...ever been to Prato Nevoso?

Don't.

But we're talking about Niederau...and I think I want to go there!!!

But, then...I'd go anywhere...I think i could persuade the OH to go, but could be madness..he's talking about Scotland and I'm backing off.

Not that I don't know that people do have an amazing time - if they are lucky with all the components - but it's just so far to go and be disappointed...

I was waiting for you to say if you enjoyed it - I guess that's the answer....
