I understand what you're saying but my attitude is that I'm going to beat it, it's not going to beat me so I just deal with every situtation as it arises. I'm obviously making life more difficult for myself  but I'm determined to overcome it.

I've tried hypnotism twice, failing miserably both times. Once to give up smoking and another time on stage at the Dominion theatre in front of thousands of people by Paul McKenna. It was very embarrassing having to tell him I wasn't hypnotised, I can tell you . I think I'm too hyper.

Absolutely. Last year I had to come down the Solaise Express chair lift into Val D'Isere and couldn't use my usual look-up-the-mountain technique. It's an extremely long, steep drop into the village and it didn't help that I was alone. I calmed myself down and looked to the clouds, I was petrified but got through it. Mind over matter.
Unfortunately, my fear stems from a bungee jump 10 years ago. I was fine before that

I can guarantee that you wouldn't have seen me looking down! I usually look up the mountain when I'm on a lift. I find that if I talk about it while I'm skiing then the fear heightens (no pun intended). I try to ignore it, it works most of the time

Dave Mac wrote:Are you really looking at fear of steepness?

This I definitely suffer from and it's hindering my skiing. I'm desperate to overcome it, I think Tennladen helped and I'm determined to get to grips with it in Obergurgl.

buggering both knees on the first day of the holiday and having to sit around waiting all day for company
and having two injections twice a day
and being in constant pain
and spending the whole week worrying that I wouldn't be able to ski on our next holiday 12 weeks later (which I didn't)

actually, looking for advice then was the reason I joined this site so every cloud and all that

edit: mattyc, insure and go sorted me out too so thumbs up to them
Best places without needing a car or bus

Nightlife in Tignes Le Lac is fine but buses would almost certainly come into the equation at some point during your holiday.
I'd go to Les Arcs, buses not required  and not madly busy even when we were there at new year.

tolk wrote:Agreed, some of the colours they have are aweful. But most of the jackets have a more neutral black, brown or grey alternative, style seems ok and they are well priced so I think i'll go for it. Thanks for the help.

My first jacket was d2b worn in a very high resort in the month of January and I didn't feel the cold (which is the most important factor really).
