I will want to look my best when the end comes so have started looking through the ski wear catalogues and websites - must get the colour co-ordination just right. Although, with my luck the world will not end and I shall be the first woman skier killed on the ski slopes by a crocodile landing on her head )

Another vote for Lech - we will actually be there in four weeks' time )
Have also been there in early March when the evenings are lighter and the apres ski is great fun with live music in the High Street and quite a bit of swaying/dancing in ski boots going on. Great destination for a wedding anniversary.
What would you listen to?

I can hear the groans now, but if I listened to anything hurtling down a favourite run it would be Is it just me by Darkness

Blimey I can't miss my shower not even for skiing, Nelly just get up a bit earlier it's a small price for not being smellie :D
The early morning crush in the gondola or cable car is made slightly more bearable with all the freshly toothpasted/deodorized/perfumed/aftershaved/etc. bodies as opposed to that later-in-the-day whiff of sweat/garlic/beer etc. )
Hi Snapzzz. Thinking back to my first ever ski experience (39/40 ish), I found I was far too warm and wrapped up most of the time as I thought skiing was going to be very cold all of the time. So several thin layers that you can take off if necessary. One of my favourite things is a Buff - one of those stretchy scarf thingies that you can wear round your neck or stretch right over your head to double up as a sort of balaclava. (It is also a useful hairband for us ladies!) Might be useful to take some Compeed blister plasters with you in case the ski boots cause a problem, not forgetting the Radox bath foam and arnica cream of course )
Your 9 year old daughter will whizz past you both after a couple of hours' lessons.
Last time we went to AdH for New Year, there was a torchlit descent by the ESF instructors in the early evening followed by fireworks at midnight. As we were staying in a Crystal hotel, both the French and English midnights were celebrated in the hotel. I seem to remember my son and daughter who were then teenagers, going on a bar crawl with the tour reps and having such a good time that neither of them made it on to the slopes with us oldies the next day ) Out on the slopes on New Year's Day, there was a really good atmosphere and lots of VERY silly hats. The queues were where you would expect them to be really - main DMC and chairs out of Bergers.
