Karen,
It is better not to try and micro-manage a ski holiday. Niederau instructors are allowed a fair degree of flexibility. They may do the standard 10-12, 1.00-3.00, or 2.00 -4.00pm. They may also elect, after a couple of days, to start early, ski until 1.00 or 1.30 and finish. In doing so, they are taking best advantage of conditions, abilities, locations, allowing end-of day free ski time, etc. Niederau isn't huge, you will have ample opportunities to check what is happening with the group(s) Also remember, just as you are meeting people on the gondola, and on the runs, that they also will meet and bond with people in their class. The group will quite often take lunch together, you can join them, and get to meet their group members. You will not be the only people in your situation, many families are of mixed ability. There is a culmination on the Thursday, where the classes get to do their ski races. This is a lovely part of the week, they try to maximise their standard, and you can watch and cheer. It's great. I would not curtail any part of their weeks lessons, it is quite disruptive to their progress. Maybe, if you look on the first couple of years of the family skiing as an investment in learning, they will be skiing alongside you by year three. Or maybe, they will be ahead of you. |

Tony,
To think that you turned down the opportunity to obtain my neverworn, skin tight, go faster, dress to the right/or left, bound to go quicker, racing salopettes. I am mortified. Multitudes of J2skiers begged you to go for them. You would have been instantly recognisable among European skiers. An opportunity to create an Avatar that would simultaneously create both fear and respect among your compatriots. There is a tide amongst men....... |

Couple of seasons ago, had my bindings set too lightly, entered a deep snow section, hit something under thes now, and stepped out of the ski. The snow was to soft for the brake to work. Followed the track and found the ski buried 2oo metres below. |

Adele, I would obviously have to unseal my lips in order to accomodate Zipfer. And then, who knows?
And anyway, how can you not plan to come to Niederau? Thats almost a double negative. You and your OH should be on season passes by now. |

I am not a fan of Ryanair, but to be fair, they are open about their offer. (Apart from not complying in a timely way with the European directive to display complete fares, an issue in which they have shown to be in the wrong) It is up to the punter if they choose the offer, or not.
In the event, Ryanair do not have much in the way of flights of interest to me. So I have no axe to grind either way. If their Ts&Cs are clear, and Ise is usually accurate about contractual issues, then any third parties making a Ryanair offer deserve what is coming to them. It isn't Ryanair that would be letting the punters down, it is the third parties. Did Ryanair do this in the right manner? It may be argued that they have done. If people have, by using third parties, been paying over the odds, (and they cannot have been paying the same price as with Ryanair direct), then by taking a quick short term action, Ryanair may be doing it's real customers a favour. I do use Easyjet a lot, also open about their offer. I can, and have, flown using just hand baggage, so paid no extras. I have always found them to be much better value, and more available, than using charter flights. Tony H finds differently, in his circumstances. Therein lies the rub, Easyjet Edin-Mun gets me to the Austrian Alps quickly and at moderate cost. Tony H has a different circumstance. |

Pav,
I know the secret place. My lips are sealed. |

At the top, I would have more than an inkling, if the last thing the co-skier did, prior to setting off, would be to check that all pockets and zips, were all closed up. At the bottom, if he /she persists in getting up on to the front of the queue for the first lift, at any cost, using any technique. But this takes a lot longer than two seconds. It often takes me a couple of minutes. |
