Should have guessed you were POSH Tony, with your preponderance for super ski gear! Shouldn't you be wearing Blue Salo's?
The posh are doing OK this year, good away win against the Dons. Bit like supporting Raith Rovers, halfway through the season, you start thinking, "well, there's always next year". You have four times the crowd, though. |

Well ManU are my natural frst team, but also, I go to the odd Raith Rovers game, used to go a lot more, just seems a quick way to waste money now.
Still make the occasional trip to Old Trafford, went last season to the Newcastle game. 540 mile round trip. Those Newcastle fans are terrific, it's terrible what is happening to their club just now. Hull are playing well all things considered, if they get home results like their away ones. Good manager. Never used to like Arsenal, but since Thiery Henri, and now Theo Walcott, they are an interesting watch. Arsene Wenger is such a great manager. Have watched Arsenal games on Austrian TV, he almost always can respond in interviews in any language. Also admire Man City, mostly because of their loyal supporters. Have always been a great admirer of Liverpool. Have yet to come to terms with Chelsea though, but that may change now that Scholari has got a grip. Like Ferguson and Wenger, he is a motivator. Football as a tad like skiing. One favourite, but I really like most of the rest as well. Well that all sounds nice and friendly, now then, where did I put my Atlas, wonder where is Peterborough? |

Tony, we have just about made peace on Niederau/Mayrhofen, and now you are after my team. I think some people have never felt the same about ManU since Eric Cantona sliiped, and accidentally caught that chap in the crowd. |

There is absolutely no reason to have a USA/Canada v Europe. Anymore than there is a reason to have Mayrhofen v Niederau. Ski locations are not just to be measured in annual depths, or village/peak altitudes. Every location has it's own distinct set of parameters.
Yes, Whistler has good snow. And it has significant white out weather. I have skiied straight down the fall line on Blackcomb glacier in white out, and it's great fun, erm afterwards. The topic is Canada v Europe. My limited experience, having skied both, is that I would choose Colorado over Whistler. And there are other central USA stuff I haven't got to yet, like Alta. Within Europe, the Arlberg has very respectable annual falls. And no J2skier is going to manage to ski everywhere. Freezywater makes a good point about the depth of snow we actually need to ski on. Then you have to look at time and value. It is pointless going across the Atlantic for a week. I surmise that 95% of j2skiers take their breaks in one week chunks. Yes, we should all endeavor to ski Canada and the USA at least once during our lifetimes. But to try and make a competition of it, is just ....daft. (I respectfully suggest) |
