Personally I like a longer ski which seems to give me more stability I ski on 190s and am 192 cm tall (and not lightweight) ..but I am an old f***T and was brought up on them...I have 2 pairs one gs race which are great on piste and ice ..very stable and very heavy and give me lots of confidence and the softer wider (100mm ) I bought last year for trying soft crud and off-piste..so I would choose 170-176 and an all round ski try this site...they have been used by a member and he was very pleased...http://www.glisshop.co.uk/

It depends on how you will be using them...I have 3 one double one for going on planes and two singles for when I want to protect the skis on the drive to the Alps... Make sure whatever bag you buy to go on the plane with is distinctly marked as they are not unique whichever you buy and can be picked up in error at a busy airport where skis and luggage come in separately ...it will spoil your holiday...I talk from experience

over the last ten years or so I have been skiing 2 or 3 times per season but last year I decided to go for 3 weeks ..by car..I got fed up with the feeling of being herded in airports at 4am for a 6.30am flight, waiting for other flights to arrive sat on expensive transfers and I found that my experiences put me off doing that.
The driving was easy so long as you are not in a rush and French a roads are great..no €70 e/w tolls I managed to sort out my accommodation quite easily and have found lots of sites where you can look before you set of ..if not the local tourist office will usually point you in the right direction I'm not like Dave as I like going to different places so this year I am doing 4 resorts/areas in France and Italy ..I can see the advantage in a season pass but I want to try out lots of places..besides I like travelling....The trip (travelling ) costs about £275 in ferries and fuel which compares well to 2 diy flights and transfers..especially as there is no ski carriage surcharge :-o |

maybe all the reports listed in one place with links to them might work under a heading of resort reports..all reports would have to be dated

I've been in the Sheffield ones (tkmaxx) this weekend and they had a few men's jackets in but they didn't seem to have the usual designated snowsports bit...I would give it a week or two..or look on their website...I had a look in the sportsdirect 10 days ago and they had nothing in there at that time

I nicked this from ...errmmm another forum which shall be nameless...seems to do the job ..why reinvent the wheel.....they did it in one thread with a link to each review.....
Resort: Easiest part first Country: Hopefully you'll also know which country you were in! Domain: i.e 3 vallees, Ski Welt or whatever system the resort is linked into. If it isn't linked into a domain then put 'none' Author: Not quite sure how this data will be processed in future so it would be good to put your snowHead name in the report. Date: The dates of your visit Our holiday: Use this section to reveal something about yourself so the reader can see the context of your report. Website : Links to things link the resort website, webcams, Ski Club information and weather. Basics : Where it is and how you got there Lift system : Type and quality of the lifts, links to other areas The terrain : The layout of the pistes and comments on specific pistes The snow : How the snow was for your trip Off-piste : Comments on off piste opportunities The resort : The village itself, facilities and character or lack thereof Food : Where would you recommend eating in resort and in the mountains Accommodation : Comment on the hotel/chalet you stayed Costs: Some idea of relative costs Conclusion: Overall comments |
