Not very nice.
:-( :-(

I don't know what you're grumbling about Stewart :D, being described as a cat isn't nearly as bad as me being labelled as a red haired troll who lives in a cave in Wales and can't stay on piste :D :D

I hope you get there okay Snowbandit, and everyone else who's going there on ? Saturday.

Thanks Caron,
It sounds as though you all did very well, especially your boys, what with managing the night ski-ing and going down that black from the restaurant at the top of Hochgurgl.

I think it's one of the problems with high altitude resorts - you get guaranteed snow but you may be unable to ski because the wind closes the lifts, or it's too cold, or there's a blizzard. Ideally you need a resort with a bit of high and sheltered low altitude ski-ing.

That was really bad luck!

I would think you have a fairly good chance of ski-ing on it by the middle of Feb, just going by the general rule that it takes about 6 weeks for a break to heal, as long as there aren't any complications.

My fingers are still crossed Bandit, my flight is in the morning at 6.35am. Apparently Gatwick is intending to re-open at 11am today. :?

Can't they re-schedule and fly from Stansted or somewhere, like they do when the flight gets diverted? Or are all the planes stuck on the tarmac at Gatwick?

Do they have a book for the unintelligent skier? I could do with one like that. I never understand complicated diagrams etc.

Val Gardena December 2009 Report

Thanks very much for that report. It was most interesting.

Val Gardena must be somewhere near Obergurgl, because I know the Otzi man was found near Obergurgl, frozen in a glacier, and there was a big argument whether he was found in Italy or Austria because no-one seemed to be too sure where the border was, exactly, but the Italians won the argument in the end, and they have him.

That's a lot of snow! I hope you have plenty of food in the house or a shop within easy walking distance. Our nearest small shop is 2 miles away, and Tesco's etc. is about 5 miles away - a very long walk!
