Thanks so much, you've helped me make up my mind and I've just booked St Johann. Fingers tightly crossed from now until 17 March that the season ends as it has started........lots of snow. Many thanks again.

Oh dear, I'm now torn between St Johann and Soll. They both look relatively similar, although perhaps Soll might have more lively apres ski.

Thinking of trying St Johann in mid March but we would be flying out on 17 March and that very much looks like the absolute end of their season. Has anybody been there at this time of year? Many thanks, still getting my ski legs and would hate to waste a week.

Has anybody been to Bormio? If so is it suitable for a beginner and third time cautious skier? It looks pretty quiet on the apres ski front, is this correct? Many thanks

Unfortunately, we need to try and get the cheapest deal we can so it is likely to be early 2011 and therefore snow is a concern. Could do with being somewhere that has reliable snowfall in January/early Feb and is not Zermatt!

I wonder if anybody can recommend any good resorts with resonably priced ski schools. I went skiing for the first time last year with my daughter. We went to Poiana Brasvo in Romania because we got a great all inclusive deal. The tuition was great although there was a distinct lack of skill on my part, however, I want to try again next year although in a resort that is not so crowded and has more chair lifts. The queues in Poina for the drag lifts were crazy and verging on unsafe. Next year I am going with a friend so basically a resort for two beginner ladies who are in their forties although physically fit don't want to spend a fortune. Advice last year from this forum was great so hoping for the same again. Thanks in advance
