Hope Austrian Arrows are not like the Red Arrows.

Take your sick bag.

I think i've gone off the cheese now, thanks :?
A salad with some goats cheese perhaps.

Or a savoury crepe from Crepes A Gogo in Deux A with mountain ham and local cheese.

Or something cheesy at Le Diable au Coeur.

I sense a cheesy theme developing here

Calella Palafugell I think

Close, but no cigar.

Guernsey?
My daughter hated ski school when she was younger, mainly because she was always in a class with mainly French kids and she felt isolated.

She skis pretty well now but chooses not to come on holiday with us anymore, she is 15. She seems to have a bit of a "been there, done that" attitude but I am hopeful that she may go back to skiing one day. I think if she had friends who were ski keen, she would probably want to go again (skiing with us old fogies is too boring).

Having said that, my middle son (17) also chooses not to ski, he prefers to go diving, it's horses for courses.

My eldest (19) is the other extreme and did a ski instructors course in his gap year. He is always up for tagging along for a cheap ski holiday (we can't get rid of him, he certainly doesn't mind going with us oldies if we are paying!) Considering they all had the same ski upbringing, they are all very different.

My thoughts are that some private lessons may help to get her over the snow plough but she will no doubt find her own way whatever you do. Don't panic, she seems to be doing pretty well for only 3 weeks on snow.

I have to confess that having had a good look around, I eventually bought quite expensive gear but in saying that, it has lasted really well.

I went for an E+O jacket several years ago because I liked the colour.... I know, I know, that's not a good reason to buy a ski jacket (it's also a British make). However it has come up trumps because it still looks like new and keeps me warm and dry in all weathers. You also can't miss me because it is the sort of lime green that really sticks out against the snow. I have seen other makes that have tried to recreate this colour but the E+O version is just awesome. My OH says he can spot me coming down the slopes miles away in it. Last year in Belle Plagne a nice lady asked me if it was this seasons, as she really liked it. Don't know what I am going to do when I eventually wear it out?

Having bought the jacket I had to have the salopettes too. Again, not cheap but fit like a glove and so warm. You will be pleased to note that I chose black this time (otherwise I would look like a skiing lime).

Have I done enough girlie wibbling yet?

Back on the thread.....

This website gives me a few minutes respite during my busy day to engage in some day dreaming about skiing rather than being stuck behind my desk.

It also gives me new ideas about places to go to ski.

As a relatively new skier, I am very grateful for all the wisdom being freely given by experienced J2Skiers and some old ski lags (you know who you are).

Thanks all

Telescopic poles already exist, don't they?

We had some in Val T from the ski hire. They're fine until you lean on them. Then they tend to collapse without much effort. Got fed up readjusting one or other.
