This photo was taken this Christmas in Les Contamines. My son, stopped to admire the awesome view & asked if we could stay there to eat our picnic.

I've skied the Yeti, it's quite short, and wondered why it was graded Black. However, if it's bump filled and icy, it will not be fun. This will apply anywhere in the Northern Alps this coming weekend, unless you are a Mogul skier, wanting to pick a Zip Line.

:D This was the first black I ever skied! I'd only just set off when OH skied over the back of my skis, resulting in me coming most of the way down on my back, head first! Yes.... I believe I did swear at him, but then went & did it again without him, which was much more successful!

yeah, she's a great kid really, just developing that teenage attitude though :-(

:( I've got one of those Snapzzz - teenage attitude is quite well developed now. Most of what I say to him is met with a . He sulked like mad this year because his ski jacket still fitted him (just) so I refused to buy a new one!

Sounds to me like it's going to start getting a bit crowded - I'm going to have to look elsewhere!

Les Gets suited us brilliantly when we started skiing with friends & our little ones - (our son was 3 when we went for the first time). Initially we used ESF (Ecole de Ski Francais)for lessons, but then used BASS (British Alpine Ski School), who were fantastic.

There is a dedicated themed area for children to use & plenty of blues & greens close to the areas the ski schools use. We would often see our son as we passed overhead on a chairlift.

The village is pretty & has an outdoor ice rink & the local tourist office organizes plenty of activities for the family to enjoy & there is a free 'petit train' to transport you around the village. If you avoid the school holidays, it isn't too busy, and is only just over 1 hour from Geneva airport if you are flying.

From personal experience, I think Les Gets is an excellent place for a first family ski holiday. Enjoy your reserarch!

Gotta laugh at Steve's face when she says, "oh ok then, can we change the ring "

I felt quite sorry for him. Ungrateful mare.

Don't feel sorry for him - he should have known better!
Hate skiing!!

I hate it when there is nobody at the lift, so you ski up to the gate assuming you will have a nice peaceful ride up the mountain with your partner. Just as the gate opens, somebody appears from nowhere & rushes through with you. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but when you have to put up with their ipod "hissing" & their tuneless singing & humming, it's very annoying!
