Thats how the proletariat described themselves during the Revolution - though I can see that, out of context, it does look a little offensive and certainly wasny my intention to be so marginalised and disenfranchised are much better terms - cap doffed to you |

Been to the FD in VDI and the one in VT (that was enough so missed meribel from my set)
I'd agree with much of what has been said: worth experiencing once "for the experience" and then no more - I too prefer a quieter vibe these days and I think Tony captures it well with "Somewhere with a bit of character, some locals, no one in Onesies rolled down to the waist or GoPros on selfie sticks" The VDI FD at least has the option of a gondola down / multiple runs (green, red, blue and black) to La Daille - the VT one has everyone heading down plein sud back to town at the end of the day - terrifying to me and my wife after she was hit there years ago so we avoid after about 3:30 |

I dont know anything about the actual circumstances of the strike etc but Admin's comment of "Whilst not wishing to judge, as we don't know the reasons, this would be pretty surprising any time, let alone half-term" is actually self revealing: of course they are going to strike at half term - thats when it's of maximum inconvenience to people and thus the maximum impact of their action. A strike is pretty pointless if it affects no-one as then it will have no chance of causing change.
Tony was being mischievous when he said "France" but the French do have a cultural leaning towards the power of the workers / underclass (you may have heard of a bit of their history on the 14th July....) Personally I dont know anything about the action etc as I have said but, to quote a famous Frenchman "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" (Voltaire) so they should get on with it as far as I'm concerned Enough politics and social comment though - far too highbrow for this time of day and level of sobriety! |

I suspect that Moutiers and Bourg will be hell on earth
Coming out of Moutiers towards Chambery last week it was already miles of tailback going towards the Tarentaise in the other direction and that was just the beginning of the French holidays.... |

Done
Personally I think that making / receiving calls whilst skiing is dangerous and unnecessary - NO-ONE is THAT important |

Boarders who have been more than once (never mind 5ish) and two thirds of them don't wear a lid???
Never caught a back edge then..... |

I was about to pen something similar but was busy ranting on another thread (also connected to helmets)
Adders has beaten me to it though This reminds me that 73% of statistics are made up on the spot..... |

No you don't - you make an unacceptable flippant remark about "fashion accessories" which you clearly mean to refer to helmets which, as was already pointed out, had nothing to do with the story. You don't "merely point out" you appear to be trying to ignite an age old debate on helmets which is long since closed Other people on here share experience, viewpoints, lively debate etc and I enjoy their banter and their considered views - I sometimes don't agree but I certainly do not believe that I'm always in the right. Your signature line is the most post ironic thing I have ever seen - you seem to make comments purely for effect and to get a reaction. Yes I am furious - having seen my wife serioulsy injured in a ski collision then I find your attitude to these tragic events to be, frankly, disgusting Rant Over Deep Breath 3 days to Courchevel..... |
