Hey-hey, AJ is back, look out, nobodys safe anymore! :) Take the pill Hamish.
I am a big supporter of mixed capability group sking. This isn't always a pecking order. As the group moves through different types of slopes/ types of snow/conditions, each has his/her own strengths.

When you follow a more experienced skier, the learning is perhaps not just the speed/confidence element. It is also the terrain recognition and understanding element.

So, if we are with a group, and there is an individual that wants to improve, I often suggest that they follow my wife, who reads terrain very well. I tend to ski more steeply down the fall line and sort out issues en-route, not very clever skiing, but that is what I do.

Following terrain well, adds so much to our learning. But following a skier, just because they are quicker in is not in itself, necessarily the right move.

I sometimes have to apologise to my ski compadres, because I have left the group to follow a fast Austrian down a pitch, where I follow their speed, terrain and technique.

As long as they are not carvers.

Jan, soz, yes, of course, KLINGLER'S!
What the diddly squat has happened to the EURO?
Having bought myself a flat for Xmas (and paying Blod's extortionate legal fees (!!!!!!!!!!!!),I can hardly afford to stand my fellow J2skiers a new year's drink at the Harfenwirt. L.

Just to walk into Klingers... smell the semmels, and the cheese...mmm. Served by Fred! You can buy just about anything in Klingers. Except, ....polo shirts. I have bought all the Niederau Tee shirts, which I don't really wear.

Every year for at least 10 years, I ask Fred, "When will you get the Niederau Polo shirts"? "Yeah maybe." says Fred. Every year, I say "next year, I am going to have my own Niederau Polo shirt made."

It's on it's way, this year. Getting a good few made for the
family/friends. Then, I'm gonna march them into Klingers.....

That's ok l. Blod can pay, out of the profits. What I heard is that she made so much money on your deal, she can afford to pay all week for the schnapps at Rudi's as well. ( As well as all the New Year drinks. There's only six in our party!)

Let's hear it for Blod!

Steve, here's a plan.

Go to another resort on the Skiwelt, say Ellmau. Or anywhere that you can get a good deal.

Buy a season pass. On your week in Soell, your skiing is free!

Now, the only weakness in my plan.

In order to fully justify the purchase of a season pass, you may need to go for a third week.

Woohoo - it's booked!

Semmel is a bread roll, and they don't come any better.

Bergkäse is what is says ~ mountain cheese! If it is local, it is probably Tilsilter.

Presumably with Teebutter.

Jan, this is a dangerous post, it could do for my heart.

Have you booked with Inghams? We normally get two pairs in one bag so I only booked 3 ski bags. When I got details through there is a weight limit of 10 kgs per ski bag  We will be removing bindings and putting them in our hand luggage I think...

The next three weeks can't go quickly enough 8)

No Para, I always go Easyjet + car or train/postbus. Easyjet seem to have a focus on weight, so 20kgm hold bag, and 12kgm for skis. Will do that easily. My observations are that if there are going to be problems, it is usually on the return check in. That won't affect me, I will be leaving both pairs in Austria.
