What do you do on your first day?

Skiing fast doesn't mean skiing well as speed helps to mask technique deficiencies, this is how many skiers pick up bad habits and eventually come undone in challenging conditions.

It's not a bad idea to go easy on the first run or two of you holiday, though I am not sure it's worth doing for the whole day. You are likely to find out that you still remember how to ski and your skills haven't disappeared, so you will find yourself where you were before very soon. If you are a solid red run skier and in a decent physical shape why would you want to stick to blues for the whole day? Pointless IMHO.
This is great news! We were waiting for this to happen for a few years now. Though I think it's wrong to say that new gondolas will be "linking directly" the slopes of Verbier with Bruson since the slopes of Verbier finish about 700m above the start of the new gondola. You need to decent from Verbier to Le Chable via gondola and get on a new gondola from there, which is not exactly direct.

Ski Theft

In the past I left my skis overnight outside the bar on a few occasions and they were exactly where I left them in the morning. But that was when I was on lower-end beginner skis, I generally avoid leaving skis these days, I either use the locker by the lifts or drop them in the chalet, and I don't go to restaurants on a mountain which you can reach by gondolas or cable cars. Don't like my skis looking all new a shiny too and use stickers so when I happen to go to the bar before getting home and leave skis outside most people would know they are my skis.
Advice Needed on Bindings - HELP!
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 8 Replies
You need bindings with DIN going up to 12 or 14. 100 mm brakes should be enough, but 110 will work too. Brand is less important. I heard people complaining about Markers but personally never had any issues with them.
I keep my boots at the locker near the lifts as I hate walking in ski boots even on paths with no ice on them, but I saw in sport shops these things that looked like metal strings you pull over the soles of ski boots. Have no idea how effective they are though.
Totally don't care if my skis match my outfit or don't. Or the top sheet design...
